Do you know what this is?

Image

Used to be a very common thing, people all over this country and many others used them occasionally. It is mentioned in a relatively famous song.

I've been told anyone under 30 won't recognize it. Those over 30 just say yes or no.

Under 30 and no concrete idea on what it actually is. Looks to me like a multitool that can open beer bottles and torx screwdriver heads.

thats exactly what I thought when I saw this. I've never actually seen one, but the description gave me enough of a clue and I started singing that in my head.

Yeah. Never really got into that particular pastime. I'd put it at anyone over 40-45 automatically knowing what it was.

Yes, a skate key. I'm 50, and probably have one in the basement, if I look hard enough.

I went roller skating at my kid's friend's birthday party a couple of months ago, and apart from the really odd sense of throwback, it was fun. Except for falling and **** up my thumb, that wasn't so cool.

Yep, it is a roller skate key. It didn't surprise me Jasmy knew it right away.

I'm 31 but knew it immediately. Never had any skates, but when you were raised around antiques, you know these things. ;) kidding

Those roller skates had nothing to do with athletics. They were bear traps with steel wheels.

Not fun....

That said, I think that even 40'ish is a bit too young for those.

I'm 49 and i know I had a pair of roller skates with urethane wheels at a fairly young age.

Unfortunately I didn't get into roller skating until junior high, and at that time they didn't use keys. Sad thing is, only a month or two after I was really getting into it (mostly for the girls who also frequented the rinks) I broke my leg and was hospitalized for a month.
