At least I've offered one. All you've done is demonstrate a deep devotion to intellectual cowardice, and a disdain for honest argument.

Put your cards on the table or GTFO.

The military *does* restrict the freedom of those that enlist to a fair degree though. It was one of the things explained to me in some depth when I enlisted.

(Please don't mistake that for me implying I'm taking Farther's side though.)

No, the military does not restrict freedom because we have an all volunteer army.

And the volunteers are voluntarily having their freedoms restricted. :p (Using pretty close to the exact words my recruiter used here).

If you agree to it, then your freedoms aren't restricted. You willingly forfiet them.

Which makes them restricted by your own choosing. :)

Restrict - "To subject to bounds or limits"
Restricted - "Limited or confined."

Therefore, "Yes, they will" is the correct statement, your qualifiers be damned.

Among all the pros and cons of deciding whether to join the military, young heterosexual men do not need the added concern of sexual harassment from openly gay superiors.

Nice language, though. Shitstain is the best you have?

I'm sure Jesus is proud of you.

Aside from the fact that "No they won't" in that context does not mean "it will never happen", you're apparently more interested in simply trolling and nitpicking sematics than anything else. I see you still can't resist lecturing people on how you think Christianity ought to work.

As for the "added concern", how about the "added concern" young women have of sexual assault or sexual harrassment? I guess that's just the cost of doing business, but if it's gay "OH NO3S T3H F4GZ0RS AR3 TAK1N 0VER T3H ARMIIIEEEE HALP!!!11!!!1ONEHUNDREDELEVEN!"

Shitstain is all the effort you're entitled to.

I get the impression Farther considers himself Christian, and doesn't think much of Diamondeye's version of Christianity.

Which isn't to defend the little bastard, his argument is bullshit and he's a complete ***. I just wanted to clarify that I don't think he's attacking Christianity as a whole. He's just attacking what he sees as Diamondeye's least Christian qualities.

As Rynar said, his posting history in the firefighter thread made it very clear that he's not.

I'm shocked. Shocked, I say.

My opinion is that there are going to be problems with recruitment and retention. Any overall solution depends, I suppose, on what you think the military should be.

You see, some of you are busy hailing this as some great victory for the individual, and I agree, it is a victory. Where we differ is I am not willing to stick my fingers in my ears, stick my head in the sand and go "lalalalala, I can't hear you" when people point out that this is not the end of the story. Some of you here are willing to do just that.

So then, what is your solution, Rynar? If recruitment and retention problems impact readiness and the ability of the military to kill people and destroy property is impaired, what do you suggest?

So in other words, you're not a Christian, have no experience with the military, are not offering a solution, and yet are simply spouting off your opinion about things you are totally ignorant of, and then when people point out the problems with what you are saying, you make irrelevant value judgements about them personally.

I guess we have a new champion troll around here.

Still think its the old champion troll.

So why are you still bothering debating with someone who someone who is just looking for a reaction and has no real interest or experience in the matter at hand?

"No, they won't" means "No, they won't" in any context, coward. Your defense is Clintonesque at it's finest, and you don't have the courage to admit you mis-spoke. As for how christianity ought to work, I'll show this thread to my christian friends and see what their opinion is. Judging by what they've told me in past times, my opinion is spot on.

You go right ahead and show it to whatever douchebags you hang out with. If they can't understand (as you evidently can't) why you can't take a sentence fragment and attack it independantly of the thought it's a part of, then I don't think their theological opinions will be worth a damn either. I really don't care about having the approval of internet shitstains, and I care even less for the opinions of their anonymous friends (which may or may not exist, and which may or may not be accurately represented by the aforementioned shitstain).

If I did misspeak, I've explained my actual position in more than sifficient detail that you should have long ago left any semantic errors on my part behind. The hilarity of you slinging words like "coward" around and telling me to "own my words" when you are so blatantly misrepresenting them is almost worth the effort of entertaing your nonsense.

As does the idea of a christian calling anyone a shitstain. Though I recall reading news stories of westboro baptist church and they use really foul language, too, so maybe it's not as uncommon as I've been led to believe.

Even funnier is watching Diamondeye call my friends douchebags when he doesn't know them at all. For all he knows, I could be hanging out with the Pope or the archbishop of canterbury or Billy Graham. I'm not, of course, but the point is, he doesn't know who they are and he still feels free to insult totally unknown christians.

Good article, and one part is relevant to this topic. Without quoting, the truck driver's son was planning on a military career, but when he gets home from his second tour in Afghanistan, his wife wants him to leave the marines.

Oh noes. The wife of the son of a an anonymous guy in an anecdote by Oliver North doesn't like the repeal. THE SKY IS FALLING.

Granted if he is trolling he's going after the low hanging fruit, but it's a solid effort in my opinion. Half the battle is to keep enough doubt in the readers mind that it's not trolling.

Yes, you volunteer for restricted freedoms. I agreed to it, but now I'm bored with it. I'd like to dissent a little harder. We take an oath to protect the constitution, but the greatest enemies of it aren't in a place that ends with "stan." Hmmmmmmmmm
