Can someone explain to me how to create a video from a certain part of a movie that is on a DVD? Specifically, I want to create a video file from the last 15 minutes of a movie.

Can you import DVD's straight into Windows Movie Maker? The timeline will let you cut up and save.

I'll be really surprised if this works, because of the copy protection on a DVD. Probably have to decrypt it to a file first, maybe using something like DVD decrypter.

Download Handbrake (for ripping) and VLC (for codecs). Together they'll break the copy protection. Pull finished file into Windows Movie Maker to chop up. Save.

Have you tried aiming a grainy cell phone video camera at the screen while the scene is playing? I've heard there's good money in that.

I'm pretty sure that's only when dirty dirty nudity is involved.

I assumed that was a given because honestly, if there isn't dirty, dirty nudity why would you bother to record it?

This thread is not as interesting as I initially envisioned. Here I thought you and LK were considering a new way to make money.

Agreed. Especially that "last 15 minutes" part. That's the good part anyway.
