So my 20 mo. old has a tendency to kick his right shoe off constantly. Doesn't matter if he is being carried, running around the room or sitting down. He finds a way to shove his shoe off all the time.
So last night, we were in Best Buy to return a crappy Xmas present. When we went in the store, he had both shoes on. I placed him in the shopping cart and we went about our business. I went to the Games section and Oonagh went with the cart to find something to exchange for the present. When we got back together, we noticed his shoe was missing. We looked for about ten minutes and couldn't find it, I dont' know how it vanished so good. It must have ended up on a shelf or under a fixture. Anyway, we had to enlist the help of the Best Buy employees and it was shortly found after that.
Moving on to Bed, Bath and Beyond. Placed the child in the cart once again with his shoes on and shortly thereafter, the right shoe was kicked off. This time we did notice and instead of putting it back on, we placed it in the cart. Sean was being fidgety as a 20 mo. old is wont to being and this cart did not have the restraining strap for the baby seat. He was attempting to stand up. Oonagh located another cart and switched (almost) everything into the new one. We walked up to the front to finish our purchases and as I was standing holding Sean, Oonagh noted that his shoe was off. I stated that it was in the cart. She looked and it was not there. She went to the back of the store where the original cart was located and found his shoe...
and something else...Her car keys.
She had handed them to him to play with while in the original cart. He must have dropped them and she didn't notice.
So, the extremely frustrating habit of my son losing his shoe all the time paid off last night right after the most frustrating shoe loss we've had yet (Best Buy) since it caused us to backtrack right away instead of finding out the keys were lost later and having to try to retrace our steps.
Thank you Sean for losing your shoe last night.
EDIT - I just noticed that our shopping stops were quite alliterative. "Best Buy" and "Bed, Bath and Beyond"
