Wow that is amazing, are the doctors hopeful or is the degree of recovery still largely unknown?

Update:

He was awake for 2 straight hours yesterday. He was completely responsive, and was able to run through the battery of tests with strong results. He was able to raise the number of fingers asked on both hands, and raise his arms above his head. His breating tube is completely out. His feeding tubes are still in however, but they may be removed within the week. He is still very heavily medicated, and in a ton of pain, but the improvemnts are remarkable.
