Finally!

This is a pretty nifty tool. It allows you to search and install apps from your PC web browser and install them on your phone remotely.

Even better, it provides a full history of all of the apps (free or paid) you have downloaded using a particular google account.

I have no idea why they didn't do this from the beginning. It makes finding things on the market so much easier. And the history function makes re-installing apps on a new device, or after a wipe much easier.

Hah! Figures they do this a week after I buy my new phone, lol.

i own titanium backup, but I've had problems with it, especially if I'm changing ROM versions.

What did you go for Kaffis? I am in the market for a new phone on the verizon network and am very undecided. I was holding out for the iphone, but now it's here it is not global capable (not quite a requirements but will be useful) and it doesn't use Verizon 4G (Want). So do, I go for the current global android or do I wait for a $g phone, or wait even longer for a 4G and global one that might arrive later in the year?

My current phone is 4 years old but I don't want to sign up to be locked in for 2 years with a soon to be obsolete phone.

Well, I'm on T-Mobile, now, so I got a myTouch 4G. I had a myTouch 3G Slide before, but the processor upgrade and me getting tired of waiting for the Froyo update coincided with my employer's phone reimbursement rolling around.

Since I rarely used the slide-out keyboard anyways (Swype is pretty damn good), and the UI on the new version is much closer to stock (only a few minor tweaks), I'm pretty pleased.

Now, that doesn't help you, because not only is it a TMO exclusive (which could be unlocked), but it's also a GSM instead of a CDMA like Verizon uses. But if you're not married to Verizon, there ya go. =)

http://www.appbrain.com/ has been around for about a year. AFAIK it does what you've described here.

Hmmmm, weird. That was precisely why I bought it and I haven't really observed an issue yet. The only thing I get frustrated with is it doesn't seem to continue back-up all apps unless you have the screen on.

I used appbrain for this very thing for a while, but i found the app was a battery hog, and uninstalled. The beauty of the native android market is that its just that.. native. Also, if I'm not mistaken, app brain doesnt track free apps you download directly from the market.

I move my SIM between handsets often. Sometimes multiple times a day. My personal phone is a Vibrant (Galaxy S), but I also have a Google Nexus S that has a IPv6 test platform build on it that I use at work quite often. Because google has both of these handsets associated with the same google account, I can choose to sync whichever apps I want to either handset (as long as the device is powered on and connected to the network).

Also, for those considering an android handset in the near future, you might want to wait a month or two. There will be a plethora of dual core, multi-channel devices running Gingerbread (Android 2.3) coming this spring. I can vouch for the fact that Gingerbread is a significantly improved user experience over Eclair and Froyo, even if just for the improved performance of the improved file systems (not to mention the UI optimizations, which are subjective).

Ahh, Midgen, I've only used Appbrain, so I've installed everything using it, and not the market. I'll have to look into the battery issue, as I've got the Incredible with its not-so-incredible battery.
