playing on an "RP server" seriously lowers the percentage of immature douchebags. It doesn't eliminate them, but it seems many immature douchebags are afraid of RP servers--which is amusing, because nobody RPs on RP servers anyway.

Ok, technically that's "dead sexy to me", but still ... you leveled a gnome? For shame!

WoW gnomes are awesome. Especially when they are wearing armor many times more massive than they are! A gnome can entirely hide behind their shield!

Vanilla-WoW warriors were like this. I didn't play duing burning crusade, so i cannot comment on that, but...WotLK warriors were NOT miserable to level at all. Prot spec meant you could park yourself against a wall in an area heavily populated by mobs and come back 20 minutes later to see a few dozen dead mobs at your feet, and your health still at max. I levelled a gnome warrior from 1-80 in very short order.

My post was practically made during WotLK. :o

Definitely much better than in the years gone past, though! I leveled a warrior as prot during WotLK too and my only regret is that he wasn't a Gnome. You have my support in that!

I still haven't played cataclysm. I'm not buying it until after I get back from our vacation in six weeks time.

Haven't logged on to WoW in weeks. After encountering righteous idiocy of RDF groups, and constant spammers and scammers, much of the drive to play has all but diminished.

I definitely don't envy those who have to go it alone in the dungeon finder. WoW PUGs have always been terrible, and Cata heroics being hard for those that still need gear from them have been kinda too much for the average PUG.

I think you'll like Cata rather much, Taly, as far as WoW goes. The new quests are all pretty high quality and everything is tied together a lot more from a lore perspective. The end game is better IMO, but it is a lot more daunting now than before if you don't have other folks around.

That said, for whatever it's worth, they're giving random dungeon finder groups a buff in the patch this Tuesday. For every random person in your group you get a 5% buff to damage, to healing, and to health, with a cap of 15%. This was done to address cases like Rodahn's. Preformed groups tended to do fine, even undergeared, but PUGs were kinda bad. A 15% buff is no replacement for actually CCing or using skull/X targeting icons or assigning anyone to do important things on a boss fight, like the last PUG I was in didn't do, but it should be a help.

Man. How do you not even bother marking Skull and X. Even in Wrath we did so DPS knew which one they could hit without stealing aggro! Then that tank got all offended and left the group. Grumble grumble. Last time I try and help a guildie by queueing with them. :(

For me it was more the sheer lack of communication in PUGs. A good 90-95% of the RDF groups I had consisted of hardly anyone saying anything at all to one another (unless it was to tell someone if they sucked, which isn't constructive at all). I remember being vote-kicked from a Grim Batol group after the first boss encounter, and I still have no idea why. No one said anything to me about anything. That incident was the moment that really turned me off to the game, although my displeasure had been building before that.

Guess we'll see how Rift pans out . . .

I'm not retarded, or bad, and I don't like Cata heroics.

Careful, your elitist is showing.

While a lot of people are retarded, WotLK taught people bad habits. Cataclysm fixed the mistakes fo WotLK, but people are still stuck in the WotLK easy mode faceroll mindset.

Its more than that. LK brought in a new subset of players. Players that don't want anything more than a quick run through a dungeon to get their purples. These people make life far more difficult for those of us that actually want a bit of a challenge.

When the only real difficulty is in finding decent people to play with... yeah, that's not a good thing.

Anyone that says that they aren't too hard probably never leaves guild groups, which is why Luck is getting buffed. :p

The Luck buff also smooths out the "I do not know the abilities of this group" phase. The first few pulls tend to be the most nervy - the healer doesn't know how squishy I am (or when I'm a healer, I don't know how crunchy the tank is), I don't know the healer's reflexes or style, I don't know whether the DPS will respond to CC directives or if they'll respond to marked targets or their own priorities. Once I know these, I can adapt.

I don't know. I'm inclined toward believing that Heroics are a bit overtuned due to the mentality that they need to challenge people in T11/T12 gear. Overtuning is relatively easily handled by groups that are accustomed to each other.

Saying "leave your guild and join a big one", though, is more likely to piss people off than actually help anything. RDF is a useful tool for people in small guilds, or people that don't have tanks and healers or simply warm bodies easily and quickly available. When the RDF is having a high average of failed dungeons, it is a problem whether the elitist douchebags want to admit it or not.

You're talking about a seperate issue there Dalantia.

The issue isn't that the instances are too hard, it's the the pool of people who are able to make it to lvl 85 and queue for randoms has too many poor players.

The solution to that issue is not to dumb down the content, but to structure the previous content to train people on how to behave in a group appropriately, understand how their toon works and play somewhat competently.

Unfortunately, the easy way to solve the problem is to just buff the **** out of the crappy players with gear or the luck buff, which basically makes the content 3 man-able by competent people. Possibly 2 man-able.

Yeah, it's pretty bad when I'm doing a random heroic with the 15% buff doing 20-30k on non-gimmick bosses while not even comfortable with my new rotation and spec while other people in the same group are pulling 6-11k. There is something seriously wrong there. I shouldn't be doing 40%+ of the total damage.
