Most of us play tunes in the background while we type away.

Right now I'm listening to Simon and Garfunkel, Keep the Customer Satisfied. It's ending, and next on the cue, Billy Joel, She's Got a Way About Her.

Enjoy

Crooked Still (Shaken by a Low Sound), Anthem, and the new Cape Dory album by Tennis. And some classical. Set to shuffle.

Hmm. I don't do background music. Never have been able to. If I've got music on, it's the focus of whatever I'm doing. I will put on music to make housework tolerable, but that's because I can focus on it and push the housework into the background of my mind. If I'm reading or typing, music is just distracting.

Actually, scratch that. I can handle classical or jazz as background music, which aren't really things I'd listen to otherwise. Can't do it at work, though.

Unless I am driving or attentively listening to music, music playing at other times tends to interfere with the soundtrack in my head.

My internal soundtrack is always Chariots of Fire.

Music playing will overwrite the soundtrack in my head ... this morning, I heard an ad for a Mozart concert featuring the 40th Symphony, so right now that's playing in my head. I feel an urge for some Dread Zeppelin coming on, though, then that will stick with me for a few days.

Speaking of soundtracks in your head, I can play whole albums in my head. Pretty much any classic Tull, Beatles, Zeppelin, etc., start to finish. In fact that's why I dislike listening to the radio - I always want to hear the next song on the album. Anyone else do this?

Not by choice, precisely, although I do enjoy her music. This was playing over the men's room PA just a minute ago.
