The only reason is that the game is finished, they just have to make a single player campaign. Even Blizzard normally doesn't take that long for a single player expansion. Brood War came out the same year Starcraft(about 6 months later) did, Beyond the Dark Portal came out a mere 5 months after Tides of Darkness and there was only a year between Warcraft 3 and The Frozen Throne and from Diablo 2 to Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction. MMO life cycles are different, as always because WoW has free content patches that most other MMOs make you pay as an entire expansion.

Yeah, and SoE released entire sets of complete expansions in 6 month intervals.

Could you imagine paying 30 bucks for ICC as a separate "expansion"? Something that should have been in at release of WOTLK? 30 bucks for ToC? Ulduar?

I was laughing at the idea that even D3 isn't coming out at all this year. How much longer could the game possibly take ffs?

I'd be willing to bet money that the D3 release comes in 4 boxes ;) One box for each class, released a year apart ;)

Their games aren't *that* great.

I love all of their games. Certainly the best RTS games out there by a huge margin. But WoW sometimes make me not like it.
