I would think it would be the opposite, Lenas... When you are single the benefits cost (drinks, dinner, presents). When you are already a couple, you don't "have" to do that anymore (not to say you shouldn't )..So more free than when you were single ..right?

Relationship = Want to, or at least feel obligated to do something nice, usually go overboard, spend lots of $$$

Single = Don't care what you do, spend $50 and see what happens. While you (correctly) assumed that "single" meant "non-serious date," my original post was leaning more toward going somewhere randomly and seeing if you can leave lucky.

While being in a relationship means getting down is a sure-thing, I've never spent more money while single on Valentine's day than I would otherwise.

Not a fan of the day either.

Especially over the past few years.

Not here it doesn't. Because single women do not exist.

You should have been at the Burlesque show I went to recently. Big muscular guy wearing a one sided thong doing a pretty physically impressive pole dance. More or less purged my wife of any coherent thought.

I am scared to ask but I can't resist... wtf is a one-sided man-thong?

Sorry, forgot about this thread.

It's this. (semi-nws, no nudity, but it's a thong)

My job prevents me from dating anywhere within about 90 miles of where I work. It's a work related casualty. That said, if you can't get laid in this man's town on Valentine's day ... and that's laid with a better than average looking 18-24 year old college girl ...

You're either some sort of mutant or just so retarded the kids on the Short Bus laugh at you.

Wow, never heard of such a severe restriction. It's not just "Keep your distance from any students"?

I don't see how a job can restrict someone in such a way.

What I've gathered over the years of conversation with Khross (but can't confirm because I haven't been keeping careful notes of the few very coy references to things like department size and distance to private airfield and whatnot that he has dropped as the only hints at specificity in order to cross reference and come up with ashort list if actual locations), is that his college town is in BFG (that's **** Georgia) and there is exceedingly little there that fires not fall under the category if either "student" or "college employee." Both if which are not unreasonable policy restrictions.

Count me in the "I don't get Valentine's Day" crowd. One day, out of a whole year, to express your appreciation/affection/admiration/whatever for your s.o.? Makes about as much sense as having Air and Sustenance Appreciation days. Don't practice that appreciation regularly, and you're probably not going to be or ought not to be in a position to observe that "special" day in the first place.

Besides, if you actually are living what they're selling as being so special about Valentine's, the holiday itself likely doesn't make much of a difference to you in the first place. Why would it be any different than the rest of your days?

PS - Divorced effective about four months ago. Not bummed at all about the upcoming day.

Valentine's Day is just a tacky attempt to commercialize romantic love a little more.

Yeah, I remember Valentine's day sucking too. I feel for you Kirra.

I was once dumped on Feb 13th by a girlfriend.... and the reason for the dump was that she got engaged. No lie.

She then offered me a pity ****..... and I turned it down. Probably the only time I ever turned that down.

How the hell do you (successfully) date someone 90 miles away from where you work. And what job do you have that requires this?
