I'm definitely digging the strong Void Knight Riftblade builds I've given a try so far. I'm wavering on what I want to pair with them, though. I have a feeling Riftblade will make it into both my tanky and my dpsy builds, because it seems to be a solid source of damage for both and I like the theme of the elemental warrior.

I'm on the fence about what I want to try to support them with, though. My initial inclination was warlord, but one of my friends is doing a paladin/warlord/void knight already.. Maybe I pick up paragon, and milk it for the parry bonus low in the tree.

You doing sword/board or 2h? If 2h, Champions have some really nice abilities and Bull Rush rules.

Exactly.

2h. The tanky I'm playing with now is currently primarily void knight, with an even mix of riftblade and champion supporting it. That's at 20. Looking ahead, I have a feeling I'll probably favor riftblade of the two supporting souls, as the other warrior in our regular group is a strong defensive tank and the general strategy we've settled into boils down to "other tank grabs everybody, Kaffis peels/grabs a mob for the group to focus down one at a time, casters first." As such, I'd rather have 2h damage than the increased durability; I'm the one only grabbing one mob.

So I had to adapt away from the rift/champ/paragon build I was trying after my initial dissatisfaction with paragon's dual wielding to pick up some threat generation/taunting from void knight. After doing so, I'm questioning whether I'm really losing all that much damage. In any event, the tanky build doesn't need very strong AE, since the other warrior is holding the attention of what we're not focusing. So, really, the attractive aspect of champion over riftblade that remains is the strong crit stuff, but I think that's too deep in for me to really find it worth the investment for that build, at least.

Dual strike, Waterfall, dual strike, strike like iron
dual strike, waterfall, dual strike, shifting blades
repeat... "Rotation" may vary depending on attack point procs from that talent that gives you two.

Anyone running this game at 1920x1200 or there abouts? And if so what kind of performance are you getting with what kind of set up?

I dont need ultra high performance settings, I just want to run it clean at that resolution or maybe 1920x1080.

Yes. I'm running a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo with an 8800 GTX, and if I turn shadows off (ouch, but it helps enough), I can run 1920x1200 at ~30-35fps.

I'm running the game with everything set on Ultimate and at 1920x1200.

I haven't looked at the specific frame rate I'm getting, but it's been completely smooth, even during rift events with 30-40 people all all the particle effects.

I'm running an Intel i7 920, 6gig ram and dual GTX 275 video cards in SLI mode.

Open beta 15th? Got my Zam code, downloading the game now. I will give it a go sometime probably next week.

I kinda need another diversion other than WoW atm.

Perhaps I will try something other than my usual ranger/hunter/paly types. Maybe some squishy caster this time around that can shoot fire out his ***.....

Ok well, I kinda split the difference between you both. I have the C2D E8400 but upgraded to a 460 GTX that just arrived today. If that doesnt do it I suppose I could just SLI another but I'm guessing should be fine.

Yeah, I'm suspecting I may be in for a computer upgrade this spring.

I'm waiting for specs to be announced for a few games, though. I want to crank Deus Ex and Planetside 2 and make them my *****.

Phenom 9850, 4g ram, Radeon 4850x2 2gb video.

I run pretty high @ about 30 fps or so. there are a couple of settings I have below max though. I'll have to look.

Yeah supposedly Sandy Bridge CPU chipset is "The next big thing"(TM) for computers and waiting on that would make sense. I'm due for a major upgrade but the card I bought can come over to that new system when I'm ready.

LOL Mus, and nice video Dash.

Sadly won't get a lot of play time tonight and tomorrow, as I've got my weekly raids in WoW.

From FB:
RIFT
We're looking into the issues affecting Dayblind, Deepstrike, Tearfall, Harrow, Shadefallen, Greybriar, Shatterbone and Deepwood. Thanks for your patience in the meantime. ^Zann

RIFT
Hi everyone! We know that many of you are concerned about the unexpected outage. We're looking into the issues that caused servers to go down and hope to use what we find to make a better launch day! Also, we'd like to reassure you that none of your characters have been deleted -- they are intact and we hope to reunite them with you shortly. We'll be posting updates as things change. Thanks ^Zann

Bleh, only had one character on Deepwood, and every time I try to make a new one on another shard, the character creation process fails. Phooey ;P

Played a character up to level 12. Will likely play it another time or two while beta is open.

But put me in the "Meh" camp on this one. Just not enticed enough to actually buy it and sub.

I'd day the game really opens up a lot more in the mid teens to 20ish. The further I go the better I like it.

I was pretty ambivalent until I got caught up pretty centrally in the defense against a zone invasion around 18. That was pretty fun, and I like dynamic content that's not driven by following the little path of ! NPCs down the road...

This. The invasions and rifts are really a lot of fun.

I could see getting some friends together and going rift hunting, etc. On top of the usual questing/raiding/crafting.

I've been fairly impressed with the crafting system so far as well. Although holy crap is the beginning leather armor ugly as sin. Looks like I'm wearing some nasty curtains from the 80's.

I intend on subscribing to this game once it's officially released. I'm looking forward to it.
