Do Space Balls and The Road Warrior really qualify for this thread among this crowd?

Not that obscure, but I watched Del Toro's "The Orphanage" this weekend. That is some excellently creepy Hitchcockian type cinema there.

Yeah I checked out the Orphanage a couple years back when I heard someone suggest it as a great and creepy movie. I will certainly agree on this one. I think it's still on streaming for Netflix. It was at least when I watched it back in '08 or so.

This is the first one that came to mind when I saw this thread.

Avalon

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0267287/plotsummary

In a future world, young people are increasingly becoming addicted to an illegal (and potentially deadly) battle simulation game called Avalon. When Ash, a star player, hears of rumors that a more advanced level of the game exists somewhere, she gives up her loner ways and joins a gang of explorers. Even if she finds the gateway to the next level, will she ever be able to come back to reality?

It isn't another matrix but I think the visuals are really good. The story is a little confusing but it really drew me in.
