I am of the opinion that people should not spend a lot of time complaining about things they can control. And I would certainly not complain about work at work.

However, you guys are the lucky winners.

I'm tired. I'm so tired. I'm putting in a lot of hours. It's not that the hours themselves are that bad, it's that I'm constantly behind. Whenever I catch up, I take a weekend off and then I'm behind again.

So, I'm stressed out about submittals, I think about work at home, IMO (though clients have not yet stated this) the quality of work from my group is depressed due to insufficient time, my motivation is being depleted, and the marketing/business development/staff development time is almost nonexistent.

For the past year, our backlog has looked like it will fall off a cliff three months from now. Every month. So I can't get approval to hire. We're busy as hell, with a sustained backlog, it's just shrunk from 5 months to 3 months. As long as it's greater than one month, every month, people are busy. But it doesn't look good enough to hire.

I like the work I do, I like my staff, I like my clients. I like my company. I'm just... tired.

I have a job, I'm doing what I love, and I'm making good money. I have a job, I'm doing what I love, and I'm making good money. I have a job, I'm doing what I love, and I'm making good money....

Sadly, I think your story is not unique.

Most companies are still not comfortable enough to hire on people, and so those that are there have to work harder/longer/faster to pick up the slack.

It can only last so long before people either burn out and quit.

Sad and unfortunate, IMO.

No one should have to spend so much time at work. Lives are meant to be lived and enjoyed, not spent every waking hour at work.

Which is why I work like a dog now, so that when I'm 50, I can do as I please with the comforts I've already earned.

Welcome to the club. There are disaffected T-shirts and apathy buttons over in the corner.

yeah, I hate work too.

all i do for 5 days straight is work sleep and eat. friday is a mental recovery day, saturday I live my life, and it's back to the grind on sunday.

doesn't help that my job has been kind of a disorganized clusterf*** lately. usually about 3 hours into the first day of the week I'm already exhausted
