Wow, I've never played on a PvE server, and I didn't know you could have both factions on the same server.

Well, you've always been able to have both factions on a PvE server. But it wasn't until fairly recently(as in 2009) that you could have both on a PvP server.

This brings up a good question (maybe we need to start a Cataclysm thread?)...

I wonder if they are going to increase the number of character slots available per realm when the new playable races come out? I've got a full crew now, and haven't even rolled my death knight yet? =p

They didn't when TBC released two new races. They didn't with WotLK when they created a new class. I have a very strong feeling they won't with Cataclysm. As a matter of fact, I think one of the WoW panels at Blizzcon even said as much. I didn't sit in on any of the WoW panels, though.

Well, I now have 5 squashling pets in my bags and I still don't have a hallowed helm. It's the last thing I need for my drake and I swear to god I'm going to punch someone in the face if I miss out on this achievement for another year.

I might quit the **** game.

Huh.. my luck has been the opposite. I've gotten the helm on multiple toons, but only just tonight finally got the squashling on one of them.

Wow your post made me look to see what quest you're talking about. How long did all that take you?? I'm assuming you're talking about the Violet Proto-Drake.

It seems nuts to me that such a difficult involved string of quests like that would involved so much chance (squashling and helm for example).

I would be pissed too if one of those was preventing me from finishing that....

Minimum time to finish the achievement is about 11 months.

I started during Hallow's Eve of 2008, so it's been a year. I would have been done during Brewfest like many others were, but last year I missed out on both the pet and helm, even though I killed the Horseman 5 times a day and trick-or-treated like it was going out of style. Looking like this year might shape up to be a repeat.

I got the drake during brewfest, and will never do it again on any of my other characters. Far too many of the holiday achieves are worthless time consumers, and don't go beyond that. They're pretty horribly desinged, imo.

Guild just took our first run at togc 25m last night, and it was an interesting experience. After the first couple wipes to beasts, I really thought we would have them down shortly, but never did get them. It was really close though, and I think we'll get them shortly. We were able to get to the worms consistently, and by the end of the night were getting worms taken care of as well. We were just having issues with keeping the dps up for icehowl.

The instagibs as a melee during the worms are completely retarded though. Multiple times we'd get a fire thing and then the knockback and basically lose all the melee in less than a second. That was pretty awesome. There's got to be a way to avoid this, obviously. And as the melee are significantly better dps for the most part in my guild, this basically meant a wipe no matter what.

But we burned through 15 attempts or so if I remember right. Was fun to give something a try that we couldn't just sleep through though.

Yikes Lenas. Get some buddies' alts in there! My regular holiday group of 4 people end up with 12 summons, and we often bring a 5th for another summon or two. Time's runnin out. :( More trick or treating, too. I'm still trying to get masks (4 short now, which is still a long way from finished) and even if I'm not actively playing WoW I'll try to log in every hour for it.

My guild's probably gonna be trying TotGC25 for our first time soon, too. I'm terribly afraid of the Worms, however. We're running about 95k raid dps for Gormok in regular mode which is a little short of where it is suggested we be, but I imagine if we're doing hard mode people will try a lot harder than they would on just a random easy clear.

Then our Wednesday team continues to fail through Ulduar, though I'm thinking at this point we have so many new people that either haven't done the fights in months (if at all) or haven't done them our way. Still can't get over effortless, wipeless ToC25 (along with VoA and Ony) every Tuesday and then wiping to Thorim, Freya, Mimiron on regular difficulty on Wednesdays. :p Next Wednesday is the first time we try Yogg25 in awhile, so we shall see how that goes! So many wipes ahead of us as new people learn the brain room... I think we only have 4 melee that have regularly done it at all.

That Mask achievement is ridiculous.

Teek and I are working on the "Trick or Treat" achievements... at level 52..

Winterspring? Check (not too tough)

Eastern Plaguelands? Check (exciting run)

The outlands inkeepers on level 40 ground mounts? Were about halfway through... having a blast...

Just got to the point where I'm logging on at work so I can trick or treat.

Suck it Blizzard.

And how is it Blizzard's problem that you have an obsessive compulsive problem?

It is not necessary at all to log in during the work day to trick or treat and get the achievement.

It is if the RNG hates you.

Wow, pretty childish think for you to say.

The meta achievement is there for players who have experienced all of the holiday events. Of the entire WoW population, not many play year round, and of them, not even all of them participate in all of the events.

If you participate in the events, you deserve the achievement. What's more absurd, is if you miss an event due to a heavy RL work load or the RNG just screws you, you have to wait an entire 12 months to try again.

It's not about being OCD at all. It's not getting something due to you after quite a substantial time committment.

Did the post make you feel better Aizle? That was pretty out of line. I've been working on this achievement for a year and to be **** by a random luck item can hardly be blamed on me.

I have trick-or-treated 10 times a day since the event started, killed HH at least 5 times each day and I have also done the daily fires quest each day. I still have no helm. Explain to me how this is my fault?

In support of Lenas...

5 characters (all 80)
4 Hallowed titles (most easy, one needed the Hallowed Helm for the longest time)
5 character has not gotten squash or helm and he's had 20+ wands, tricks a plenty, and to show how often he's Trick or Treated, I give you this fact.

He's 85% done with the masks achievement.

RNG just screws some characters.

Best of luck, Lenas.

Yup, I got screwed by the RNG on the candy achievement during the valentines day holiday (fortunately patched out later when blizz realized it was idiotic). I know the feeling of unbridled RNG rage.

You have my full support Lenas. It's just sad for blizzard's argument to be "we're not FORCING you to get the achievement". Sure, you know, it's not like we've worked an entire year to get this drake or anything, we'll just wait till the RNG stops being a douche.

The RNG is crap. I regularly log in 5 chars to trick or treat at the Inns. One of them has never received a wand of any kind. Another has 6 ghost wands an only one or two of the others. One char has received toothpicks 8 times, and none of my other characters have received any.

reee-tar-did...

These events are supposed to make the game more fun.. but for me they seem to just add frustration. I don't mind stuff like hiking to all of the inns.. Thats a manual effort thing on my part.. i can choose to participate or not... but the random drops are just stupid because they are so inconsistent.

Pretty much. Last year I did the whole trick or treat thing the whole two weeks and didn't get toothpicks until the very last day, like three hours before the event ended. I had everything else done (except the masks, which I'll probably never do) at least a week before that.

The solution to it for this event is amazingly simple as well, I'm surprised they don't implement it: make all the items buyable for the twenty different kinds of candy you get for doing everything else. Now you can buy all the stuff you want, make sure you get the things you need, and people do something with all the worthless candy that otherwise mostly just gets destroyed.

If you're getting frustrated doing optional things that you don't have to do...maybe you shouldn't be doing them at all. Doesn't seem like it is worth the stress and frustration it is causing you.

When the thing that's causing you frustration is the culmination of a year's worth of work... I can dig it.

RNG-Based Blueballs are not a fun thing for anyone to get.

Yeah...but it is all self imposed. It's not like it was a secret that these "achievements" are heavily influenced by the RNG and that it would be very possible that you could go a whole holiday event without seeing one of the things you need for the "achievements" due to the very nature of the RNG.
