So be careful what you wish for right?

Seems like my music is creeping up on me...had a couple of gigs this month, more lined up for next month. Got this friend who has been in the local music business for some time now and is helping me out by encouraging me to get my equipment out of the attic and adding an equalizer and some other voice box thingy ma bob.
So now my practice area, instead of being one acoustic guitar and me sitting cross-legged on the floor with some tabs, now consists of a heck of a lotta equipment and cords and cables and stands and it just creeps me out. I'm not used to this at all and its very intimidating.
Its like giving an aspiring model one of those mirrors that magnifies every flaw in your face by 500x. I'm afraid to even go into the room where that equipment is and when I turn everything on and try to play I just get confused and insecure and frustrated to the point of turning everything off and having to count to 10 and walk away.

You play well and have a lovely voice. I don't know what you need to worry about.

Aside...I just broke a string on my acoustic the other night. First string break after having it for just over two years. I put a new set that I happened to have handy and the sound was amazing. Nothing like putting on a new set of strings. They sounded so much brighter than the old ones. I love playing, even if I am not the greatest, but it is so much fun.

Lucky you, you get to share all your wonderful talent with an audience. You'll do fine.

I don't play out, and have no experience with the equipment you are referring to.

One suggestion would be to keep practicing the way you've always practiced. That is.. Keep it fun. If it ever gets to be a job it's going to suck. You should only need to practice with the gear enough to be familiar enough with it when it comes time to use it.

Not sure if you know about it, but there is a ginormous forum where a lot of pros (and amatuers) post. You might get some better advice there.
