Sometimes I wonder the wisdom of using a browser other than IE when I still have to go back to IE for certain things. I know i'm still a novice at web design but is really hard to develop browser neutral apps?

I don't think it's that hard nowadays unless you need far-reaching backwards compatibility.

Some government sites like for student aid.

Various job Application sites.

Nothing I use on a daily basis, but it's annoying.

My beef is the "this browser is not supported" on YouTube, etc. It still plays the videos, etc.,so what's not supported, your ability to track me?

What that means is the browser isn't supportive of HTML 5 so you're watching the flash player instead.

I particularly enjoy sites that tell me I should use internet explorer 5.5 at 1024x768 for an optimal experience.

Is there a huge difference? Other than whatever security vulnerabilities there are?

Flash is more CPU intensive and not supported on most mobile devices.

Also, it's dying.

OK, that's funny, because I've never enjoyed using Flash, really. I used to avoid those updates as long as I could, too.

One of my home machines uses IE6 and Mozilla 2.whateeer, I think. So, yeah, I can be kind of a luddite.
