Nothing substantive happened in the last election. In fact, nothing substantive ever happens in elections. Why do people keep holding onto the myth that elections are meaningful?

I was talking about the recent spat of threads in which law enforcement agencies seized property (houses, cars, boats, money) from people later acquitted (or in the most egregious cases never even arrested) in a court of law and kept the seized property.

That's okay, too! People who have that much money have to be breaking the law somehow. If they don't want to pay their taxes to support my crack addiction, then the police should be seizing their property.
