Wikipedia is not an acceptable academic source; nor, for that matter, is the Encyclopedia Britannica.

Generally people don't take the time to write Wikipedia articles unless they know a lot about the subject. They also fix mistakes of other people and are more firm about the edits. In addition most pages are backed by sources.

when you can get the professors of UNLV and CSN to accept wikipedia as a source than I will concede otherwise; it is a nice resource, but not a credible source.

Edit: i do not know if you are serious or not since you quoted a wiki article where they are giving themselves credit for being a good info source.
