How can you be sure? Spending money is the essence of an economy.

It's an object or record that is represented as payment for goods and services.

Mainstream news shows do this sort of thing all the time dont they? All those Channel 2 "on your side" videos where they go to some sketchy car shop and record the guy trying to scam them. Or even activist groups like PETA filming at meat processing plants.

Depends on state laws. In KY its legal as long as at least one of the parties to the conversation is aware its being recorded.

Again, American liberals consider themselves centrists, which makes everyone else in the United States right-wing extremists.

The Hellfire portion of this board is HEAVILY slanted to the right.

edit: I should probably rephrase that.

There are 3 people here who make any effort at posting from the 'left' RD, Aizle and myself. Of those, only Aizle has a post count over 2000. Compare with some of our more vocal posters on the right,
Khross (3400+ posts), Elmo (2300+ posts) Screeling, (2000+ posts), Vindicarre (2700+ posts) , Darkseige (3100+ posts)

It creates a perception of a right-leaning board.

If the racist, weightist, classist, elitist, mind reader who ranks people based on their appearance in accord with his own prejudiced standards and misogyny decrees it, then it must be so.

(see edit.) I am quite certain I post from the left, rather than the Center Kross. I'm egalitarian, humanitarian, pro-gun control, anti-death penalty, pro-choice, Unitarian, politically correct, and self-rightgeous about it. I know what I am. At least I cop to it.

You just owned yourself with your own example. Indeed, I think I shall keep this post bookmarked, as proof that you've no concept of what constitutes Right, Left, or Center.

I'm gonna ask this again...

Right of *WHAT* exactly?

As far as I'm concerned, there is only one (maybe two?) people on this board that I would consider far right... pretty easy to figure it out.

But again, you have to break it down...

Pick one person on that list that isn't Elmo, and try to accurately define them as 'far right' using more than 4 words. Try for a short paragraph... since they have so many posts and all...

Here is what I think.

I think that you have decided that anyone who disagrees with you about anything, ever, is automatically 'far right' on everything. This seems to be a common misconception among a few folks on this board.

I am far right on here...interesting because to a lot of people I am considered moderate or left.

Incidentally, regarding the actual OP about the NPR exec getting canned, I think this is reaction is pretty much spot on (except for the bit about not liking NPR):

Salon wrote:
You don't have to like NPR—I don't—to come to the defense of Ronald Schiller, the NPR executive who just got stung by video guerilla James O'Keefe....The video establishes that Schiller and his associate, Betsy Liley, will say almost anything or ignore any provocation to put themselves into a position to nab the $5 million. I'm sure if O'Keefe's colleagues had asked Schiller and Liley to get on their hands and knees and bark like dogs they would have answered, "What breed?" But pardon me if I'm not outraged that 1) a pair of NPR officials hosting potential donors would merrily slag conservatives, Republicans, Tea Party members, and other non-liberals or 2) display temporary deafness when deep-pocketed potential funders say ugly and demented things.

How should Schiller have fielded the incitements? Praised the Tea Party or remained neutral? Spat on them when they revealed their Muslim Brotherhood connection? Lectured them when they said stupid things about Jewish-Zionist media control? I certainly would have, and I'll bet you would have, too. But we'd last about 15 seconds in the fundraising business if every time a potential donor said something crazy or offensive, we told them to shut their pie hole. When people donate money, they feel even more entitled than when they're sitting in their home bank-vaults running their fingers through their cash. Rich people love to give their money away, but they're always attaching strings, and one common string is "You agree with me, right?"

From what I can tell, Schiller worked hard to keep the potential giver happy while maintaining a modicum of face. Still, he shot his mouth off in directions that don't make him or his organization look very professional....I see less of a crime here than I do a misdemeanor. I've never been a big one for criminalizing or punishing speech. If we're going to defund NPR (and I think we should), let's do it for the right reasons—because government shouldn't be in the business of funding news collection, not because somebody on the money-raising side of the operation said supremely stupid things during a sting.

So, Theri thinks he's "egalitarian" and "humanitarian" as if those qualities are a province of the Left. I would suggest that those he feels are on "the Right" embody those descriptors to a much greater extent than those he feels are on "the Left".
It seems to me that one couldn't be more "egalitarian" and "humanitarian" than to treat others as you would be treated yourself. I know I don't want to be treated as if I am a second rate human, somehow in need of hand-outs and targeted "perks" in order to compete with everyone else, yet that's just how the Left treats women and minorities (they deem acceptable) as a matter of course. Then again, how else could a self avowed racist, weightist, classist, elitist, mind reader who ranks people based on their appearance in accord with his own prejudiced standards and misogyny think of themselves except as some benevolent ruler who gets to decide who gets "special" treatment?

Oh, and now that you've made it clear, Theri, that you think I'm "on the right", please explain how you reach that conclusion.

"theri"...?

You want me to go through all your posts and find those that are Right-leaning? Really?

Didn't we already have this discussion once about what constitutes Right/Left and Conservative/Liberal? I seem to recall we went around and around and got nowhere.

Yes you, Theri, I thought I was pretty clear: I'm asking you to explain the reasoning behind your classification of me as "on the right".

Seeing as I'm I'm egalitarian, humanitarian, pro-gun control, anti-death penalty and pro-choice as well as being pro-legalization of drugs, pro-gays and women in the military (in combat roles), in favor of homosexuals having the same legal rights as everyone else and on-the-fence (so to speak) about completely open borders, I'd say that your self-description is much less "on the left" (as you choose to see it) than mine.

Funny considering we've actually discussed my personal stances in the past. Thanks for the quote, I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

In this case, I think Riov was probably just listing out people that disagree with him the majority of the time, in which case the list could probably be simplified: The Glade (126947+ posts).

I hate the terms "left" or "right," using a point on a line to compress every opinion someone may have. The fact that we treat others differently depending on their imaginary point is ludicrous. The saddest part may be that people get so caught up in opinion, that we hardly have any factual discourse. TheRiov is guilty of this.

Sorry for the tangent.

I have a hard time with euphemisms such as "gun-control" and "pro-choice"; of course everyone is for guns being controlled who wants a gun running loose? As for "choice" I like choices, I'm very much pro-choice...

You know, it never ceases to amaze me that when someone voices a very definitive, concrete opinion as if it were fact, and they get called on to back it up, they invariably have nothing to say while they figure out why it is they said what they said, and try to find some sort of justification for what should be an informed opinion.

Just a tangential musing, but we have been trying gun control and sex education for a number of years now. Does anyone else think maybe we should give sex control and gun education equal time?
