I played Origins on the 360. Is it worth going to the 360 again? Or should I switch to the PC version?

Well...DRM on the PC is really annoying, if going to PC version, would definately recommend getting it on Steam over EA's SecuRom bullshit.

See here for more PC DRM info directly from bioware

Quote:
Hi everyone

Recently there has been some concern over the DRM (Digital Rights Management) included with Dragon Age 2. Hopefully this post will help clarify what the DRM is for all versions of Dragon Age 2.

Steam versions use Steam DRM, no other DRM is added.

Non-Steam versions (digital or retail disc) are as follows:
- No disc check, you do not need the disc in drive to play.
- No limit on the total number of PCs you can install and play the game on.
- There is a limit to the number of unique/different PCs that can start/play the game within a time window [5 PCs in 24hrs].
- Each install requires logging in to your EA account to verify game ownership and if you are a member of these forums, you have an EA account.
- You can play offline but the game will require a login check after a select period of days.

Release Control (does not use securom)
. It does not install anything to the PC.
. Sole purpose is to check with a server to validate whether the game release date has passed or not.
. It completely removes itself after the game release date has passed.
. You will not be able to play until that date has passed.
. Dates & times are set to the retail street date per country.

Hopefully this explains the DRM included in Dragon Age 2.

If you still have questions, please ask them here. However, this thread is NOT for the general discussion of DRM, the pros and cons of other DRM systems or any talk about circumventing DRM (which is against the rules of conduct and will be diciplined as such). Thanks.

Good grief, what a pain. So cracked versions don't have to deal with this bullcrap?

That all looks pretty reasonable to me. Not being able to be offline for more than a few days is the only real annoyance.

If you want to carry over decisions, you may want to stick with 360.

Console versions currently lack auto attack. Bioware said they would be adding it with the first patch, though.

Keep in mind they have three default origin play throughs for you to choose from when you start the game(after the exaggerated scene during the character customization).

Which was a design decision (silly, but there you go). If you're cool with playing Dynasty Age (or Dragon Warriors, whichever Dynasty Warriors joke you prefer), then there's really no issue.

Yeah, but Bioware said it was a mistake. They sent the order in to get it implemented(as a toggle) but, according to them, something went wrong and it was never implemented. IT will be implemented in the future, though. I have a feeling they never had any intention of adding it, but after people complained(a lot) on the forums when the demo was released, they started working on it for the first patch.

As someone that got bored of DA1 pretty quickly, the intro to part 2 was pretty great for getting me back into the game. It's really fun playing a rogue, for the animations and jumping around, if nothing else.

I just finished the game. Aside from one bug that kind of screwed up Merrill's side quests, it ran fairly well. The game is certainly funner to play than Origins. I'm...a little mixed on the rest. I don't regret buying and playing and I might even like it more than Origins. It was just...very different. It is quite unlike anything I've ever played before. The characters are better written in Dragon Age 2 than they were in Origins(and Awakening). Much more complex relationships with everyone. It was a lot darker with a lot of choices that needed to be made that didn't have a happy ending no matter what(especially the final decision you have to make).

It was a lot shorter, though. I finished at 33 hours(longer than Mass Effect 2 by about 8 hours, but my first Origins playthrough took me over 100) but I think I mostly attribute that to the faster combat than you had in Origins(which was painfully slow and boring and easy). Dragon Age 2 was much more challenging than Origins(which was pathetically easy even on Nightmare)...but the increased challenge came mostly from the nerfing of healing(both spells and potions have cooldowns that make them basically once per fight).

The musical score was fairly forgettable, sadly. I hardly even noticed the music most of the time. But Origins has this too, aside from a few select tracks. Returning characters were neat, but kinda pointless(especially Alistair). The only exception being Anders. This...was odd. Anders was a completely different character. If I wasn't told he was Anders from Awakening, I wouldn't even know it was him. His personality is 100% different from Awakening. It doesn't make him a bad character(because I personally felt he was probably the strongest written character in Dragon Age 2) it was just kinda...odd. Also, whoever wrote the humorous/charming Hawke is a genius.

Anyway...Dragon Age 2 is not your traditional fantasy game like Origins was. This is a completely different beast all together. Lots of politics and intrigue. I can understand why some might not like it considering what Origins was. But that does not make this a worse game. They could have done a little better on the act transitions(they hardly go into what Hawke was doing in those years between acts) but the framed narrative was pretty unique none the less. I would certainly recommend it to anyone, even if you didn't enjoy Origins...because like I said before, it is a completely different game. Just don't expect traditional fantasy.

I'm still in the process of playing (Mage), but I have to say...GORRAM do I hate Isabella. Stupid useless skanky piece of pirate trash.

With any luck (and time) I'll post my impressions later today.

For those with the signature edition is the follower worth the download if we just got normal retail?

I haven't played yet, so I have no opinions on Isabella specifically (although she was cool in DAO), but "Pirate Trash" is better than non-Pirate treasure. ;)

A quote from Hoburn Wash is appropriate in this circumstance, Mr. Skee.

She is a dirty pirate whore.

I romanced her, though. She demonstrated that there was at least something more to her than what's between her legs.

I played all freaking weekend. I just got stuck
Spoiler:
where the situation with the Qunari goes to hell and they attack the city. I've gotten to the battle with the Arishok and his six billion guards and I keep dying. Maybe playing through at some time other than 2:30am will be easier. :D

Those who've finished...looking at my spoiler above, what percentage of the game would you say I have left? I've tried to avoid spoilers as much as possible.
