Tldr?
Stop panicking about nukes. The tsunami is bad enough.
This seems a little 'ostrich in the sand' ish to me.
There was another explosion at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi facility today
The U.S. Navy is moving it's fleet back (from their current 100 mile range) because of elevated radiation readings.
There are already reports of relief workers being treated for exposure to radiation (17 US Navy Personnel referenced in
this article)
I completely understand that the priority right now needs to be search and rescue/recovery, and getting infrastructure back online, however, doing so without taking the risk of radiation exposure into consideration will only compound the over all impact.
At some point (later), there are going to be a lot of hard questions to answer about the design and redunancy of those cooling systems, and how they can be improved going forward (I have no doubt that japan will continue to depend heavily on nuclear power).
