You, good sir, have been expelled from the Johnny Cash Is Awesome Club ...

Also, we might have to reconsider Lord Doom's sanctioning of your marriage, as it might be found that you have been secretly torturing Pheona with such music.

Insipid, yet repetitive and obnoxious. I'm sure it will be a big hit.

I'm boycotting your television station now, as I can only assume this is reflective of your content because you ran across it at work.

No, it actually came from TV's Frank on Twitter (by way of Mike Nelson). But we did just receive a "country" song by Justin Beiber and Rascal Flatts. That pairing shook my underlying faith that the universe is created and run by a just and loving God.

Wow. I really hope this is some kind of "leg-up" program for the girl starring in the video. At least they let her write her own horrible, horrible lyrics.

Has kind of a family guy randy newman feel to it.

(wow, Fox has done a bang-up job of scrubbing the net of Family Guy clips. Way to kill free promotion Fox!)

By the way, this song is currently #69 on the iTunes top 100.

I’d rather hear gunshots from my childs bedroom than a new Rebecca Black song.

As awful as that is, is it any worse than Nancy Sinatra or Tiffany? Each generation has to make the same stupid, syupy mistakes as the previous ones. :)

*grin* Maybe, but how could it be worse than a song made #1 during the "Celebrating The Good Life Shopping Mall Tour 87"? (No, really, it was a shopping mall tour.) You've ruined my lands, I'll ruin yours:

Except that was a cover.

If you want to compare Tiffany to Rebecca Black, you should probably use an original recording as the example.

And yes, Rebecca Black's "Friday" is horrible even in comparison to that.

Better music, better singing, better lyrics, better entertaining/performing/whateveryouwannacallit. I second FarSky's response. :p

The only thing the 80s loses at, if you want to call it that, is its... eccentricity. In everything. Even the normal boring guys in the 80s come across as extremely dorky today, and probably did even then. So you can certainly win on the shopping mall tour point! But... isn't that endearing, in some fashion?! :p

This Rebecca Black song is just... it's.. ..I don't know what to make of it. Society often rightfully maligns today's pop industry for grooming entertainers rather than musicians, picking on people like Britney Spears or Justin Bieber, saying they only got their massive success because of reasons other than the music. I can't even call it 'their' music.

This Rebecca Black person? It seems to me that she's the result of what happens if you try to go ahead in the pop industry anyway, even if you don't have an entertainer to work with. Or anything at all to work with. Cause man. It's so bad it's good, indirectly, since it brought us things like that Bob Dylan track above. :p

#1 reason why it makes me hate the world is because I end up defending Justin Bieber, even if he has earned his swimming pools full of cash only because he fills a niche for an entire demographic. Music and lyrics and whatnot can all come later, masterminded by a lot of industry people, but at least he has just the right look/attitude/nonthreateningvoicewithsappylyrics I guess?

I'm just trying to figure out if the adage "there's no bad publicity" is really true, cause it's going to be sorely tested on this one!

edit: apparently I must strike my 'better lyrics' from the above post. :p
