Is it just me, or does this look absolutely horrid?

http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/03/18/wonde ... cki-photo/

They couldn't find an actress who had a little more of an athletic build, a feminine face, and better implants?!?

I like the commenter on that article that the tailor should be slapped for whatever he/she did to that crotch.

It's not just you.
I think Whedon did a much better job of casting for WW.

Well...****. I kind of had hopes for this one, but that is just atrocious!

Makes me miss Lynda Carter even more. She could fill out the suit without a team of plastic surgeons hanging around!

Totally.

My daughter was just watching some of season 1 of the old show this morning. (The season that took place in WW2.)

Now, don't get me wrong, that show isn't the best now that I'm watching it when I'm not 8, but Lynda Carter did the best she could with the role and the costume. And she had real curves.

It is an emotional attachment. Lynda Carter remained the icon because as Serienya points out, she did a decent job with what she had, and she had the curves to make WW look like the comic book character back when the comic book was still in our memories and canon.

These days I think we are not only going, yuch, fake curves, miserable costume, not Lynda Carter, but are trembling with angst and rage at the word reboot. Why reboot it, just so you can put WW into modern day times with a new angle? She's an immortal dang it, she's going to look damn good for centuries if not millenia more.

I'd be more interested if they showed an ageless WW and Superman (and any other immortal superheroes) with a cast of aging and successor superheroes. That could be fun.

And yes, that picture of Lynda turns me into a high school fanboy in seconds.

And dammit, the boots should be red.

I'm fine with a reboot as long as it's done well. This just doesn't look like it will get out of the gate.

I loved how they handled Diana in the Bruce Timm Justice League cartoons, so that's my current reference point for the character, nostalgia for the old show aside.

Lynda Carter, though - you couldn't take your eyes off of her when she was onscreen. You believed she was WW, because it just looked right on her. (She wore the costume, it didn't wear her, in other words.)

Should have left the boots red. The blue pants/boots combo looks like something out of a porn flick.

She didn't, she wore shorts. Star spangled shorts. Someone thought it was a little odd for an Amazonian Princess to be a patriotic American.

That looks so much better Hokanu, even with those porn pants.

I'm surprised they didn't go with the redesigned version. I prefer the original but for a television show it might have been more plausible.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is something that looks like it was bought off the rack in the "sexy costumes" area of a Halloween superstore.

When I first saw an article about the costume, I had thought they found a picture from a costume website to use as a place holder while they intended to simply write about the outfit.

I didn't think Costumes could get any worse than the Halle Berry Catwoman outfit.

Someone on teh intarnetz took the costume and made some (much-improved) tweaks to it.

Personally, I'd be happier if the bracers were gold, but that's a minor quibble compared to the rest of the disaster that costume provides.

I can deal with whatever costume, I just wish it had real boobies in it.

She's not aquiline enough to be Wonder Woman.

The costume is atrocious. It looks cheap and skeezy. It makes the actress look like a picture in a catalog for sex-wear. Ugh.

Bah. You and your bizarre expectations for an Amazonian to have Mediterranean features...

Um, maybe because the history of the character is Greek mythology?

Just a hunch, but I think Kaffis's post was sarcasm.

And the original Wonder Woman outfit doesn't?

Wonder Woman is and perennially has been 40. The New Costume and latest direction in the comics (last 18 months or so) has been an attempt to ... "de-age" Diana into a late 20-something character. She is, of course, immortal but that doesn't really matter ... They've been trying to get rid of the matriarch image.

Bruce Timm's WW was perfect.

Too bad she never had a stand-alone series, only showing up for JL.

Go find an atlas.
