Foamy you've gotten lots of good advice and support here about your mom, this thread included.
I just want to add a different perspective.... My mom was much like your mom. The first time she saw my son when she flew down for a visit she brought him an old battery operated fisher-price guitar toy that was broken, had no batteries, and the back panel was missing. The other item she brought was an old dog eared kids book with the .25 price tag still on it from the thrift store. This was a woman who had just inherited over $1 million from her husband's life insurance and retirement funds! This was only the second time she had ever seen her grandson and that's what she chose to bring....
All that aside and as much of a ***** as my mother was, I can't even begin to tell you what I wouldn't give to have her here to complain about.
When someone like that dies, you are suddenly freed from the complaints and happy memories you forgot about are allowed to finally filter through and you see the good AND the bad....what I'm saying is, I hope you don't get so focused on the "my mom is such a *****" part that you forget the "she's my mother and I love her old wicked *** anyway" part!

My mother in-law is a deeply disturbed person. I feel her constant using of Foamy's old toys is one of two things. 1. She believes Sean is her child while there because they both have called themselves either mommy or daddy while we are in their presence. 2. With all the hell she put her sons through and her husband during their adolescent years, this is her way a re- living with Foamy's dad, the only good part in their married lives. She is a psycho

My first thought after reading this was "they are all very flammable" or something, and you were going to desribe a garage or attic fire. I'm not sure why I thought this...maybe I have some subconscious pyro thing going on or something?? Regardless, I'm happy that your house did not burn down, but I am sad for your frustrations with your mother.
