Apparently you haven't been around good managers before LK. That situation was absolutely possible to handle better than it was. The manager put his employees in greater danger by their inaction.

LK is correct. This is not a management issue. This is an example of someone who WANTS to make a scene and feels they are ENTITLED to everything they want.

unless you guys are hearing audio I'm not, you're all making statments without enough information. For all we could see in the video someone could have been spitting in someone's food, or someone could have pulled a gun behind the counter. And the opinions voiced by some glade members here are repellant.

It's called "experience." I've seen enough situations like this to have a pretty good idea of what is going on. Could I be wrong? Absolutely, but not likely.
See, I used to think like you too...but that was before I had seen hundreds of examples of this type of behavior in everyday life in my community for well over a decade.
I have 16 years of witnessing things like this to varying degrees....what's your experience with this, Riov?

I really don't see how someone pulling a gun behind the counter could cause a reaction like that. Having a gun pulled on you generally inspires fear, not vandalism and assault.

I did not say I thought it LIKELY. I said you cannot tell what is happening. You don't know what was said, you don't know what was done or who could have done what to difuse the situation or escallate it. The audio and video are both from a distance on a cell phone quality recording.

Beyond that, I see a lot of people aiming racial stereotypes at this. I've seen this behavior in lots of different groups--it has nothing to do with race, and far more to do with the age groups involved. (I remember seeing it on a number of occasions on a friday/saturday night in several college towns) I saw it last month at an IHOP at 12:30 AM with a bunch of high school kids (all apparently WASPs from what I could see)

The fact that several people bring up race and making highly prejudicial statments(and many of the same people who were claiming how not-racist they are) just reinforces my arguments from the previous thread.

TheRiov, you are the only person tying this thread to race issues. Indeed, you've made the singularly most racist/classist/prejudicial statement I've ever seen on these forums: you assumed that the white high school students were also part of the Anglo-Saxon diaspora and Protestant.

My town prides itself on it's diversity. Which basically means there are a lot of white and black people in it. I personally dont give a damn about diversity. In any case I picture my black neighbors watching this video and just /facepalming. Just like when I see the retards from Jersey Shore depicting Italian americans as semi literate monkeys trained to use hair gel I cringe.

There are areas where seemingly all the black people act like these fools, and then areas where everyone is "normal". I cant pinpoint the distinction, seems to have a lot to do with income, but not exclusively. Culture? Cant really lay it all out.

I can one up that. We had a rumor going around the office staff that layoffs were coming the day a certain VP was to show up. The day the VP showed up, this woman throws herself on the floor and crying she's having a miscarrige! The thought was that if she was on medical leave or on disability, she couldn't be fired (allegedly).

Thank god for the office cameras catching her going out for a smoke and running around playing grabass with her friends.

I disagree with Riov's contention that recognizing the stereotype and acknowledging that it's accurate in some cases is racist. However, in fairness, it's true that race has been weaving in and out of this thread from the beginning.

The "managerial skills" required to defuse a situation like that aren't typically found in a Burger King. The usual Burger King employee isn't trained, nor capable enough to handle it either, nor should they be expected to handle it.

Determining someone belongs to a particular demographic is not prejudice. I'm not making a value judgement about someone's ethnicity, religious affiliation or ancestry. I'm not making any statements about the characteristics of that group, I'm not making an vast generalizations, or even using a stereotype.

Do you truly not see the difference between identifying that someone is a member of a group (What I did) and making statements about members of a particular demographic that include broad generalizations and the use of stereotypes? (what many are doing)
