Yeah. almost identical-- different board, slightly different word list and point values, but otherwise, yes. Scrabble.

It is basically scrabble. Letter tiles used to spell out words for points on alternating turns.

The rules (posted above) are slightly different than scrabble, and it uses a different, but standard word game dictionary called "ENABLE" (also linked above), but for all intents and purposes, yes, it's just like scrabble but with a different name.

I see the point value for using a full rack is slightly lower, too.

Yeah, that's the one thing that bothers me...(aside from the app force closing constantly)....there's no huge bonus for using all your letters in one turn.

There should always be maximum points for a full rack.

The bonus was downsized from a DD to a mid-range C. It's still a pretty good-sized rack.

I jacked my mother for her old iPad. I suppose I could play. I don't know if the two versions communicate with one another or not.

Yeah, the games are tied to the account, not the device/version.

Had to reinstall the app again. It started losing my games and having me start new games. -_-

Ahh, that explains why I got a new invite from while we still had a current game.

I made another play in our existing game. Did you get it?

I just lost a game where I was ahead by 60'ish points, and had a stash of high point tiles yet to play.

Apparently Kirra played her last tiles on an 8 point word (VATx2), but because the value of my remaining tiles was subtracted from my score and added to hers, it was enough to put her ahead...

The Rules wrote:

Moral(s) of this story

- Know the rules
- Don't save high value tiles for the end game
- Pay attention to how many tiles are left
- Don't get cocky ! :p

That's a standard Scrabble rule...

Once I reinstalled, I was able to see our ongoing game and make my move.

I read that they are working on fixing the missing game bug (among other bugs).
There is a work-around (as an alternative to re-installing) to get lost games back on Androids. Goto Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, then scroll to and tap the "Words Free" app. Tap the "Force Stop", then "Clear Data" buttons.

The next time you open the app it will have you re-sign-in and your missing games should be back.

I haven't played scrabble since I was 10years old, and even that was only a few times. Not much fun when your sibiling opponents are 7 and 10 years older than you. Anyway, I was only vaguely familiar with scrabble in general when I started playing this game. I'm getting better at it.

I had that same problem in my early Scrabble games.

Midgen and ulfynn are pretty good at getting in long words, much to my dismay :p. TheRiov, on the other hand, is really good at strategy with multiple word placement from what I remember (been a long time since I played him) when he was regularly stomping me. I'm wondering which of those playstyles would win...you guys should play each other and find out!

long words are really only feasible early on.

For me, it's all about the multiplier tiles, and optimizing their use, while preventing your opponent from using them. There are a lot of two and three letter nonsense-words in the dictionary. Making good use of them, especially in combo's, is really helpful too.

BTW, sorry for the slow responses the last two days. Lot's going on at work, so no time to play...
