Do you realize what a retard you sound like? You're ***** about people shortening your name to the first and middle letters, and saying it's perfectly ok if they shorten it to the last 4 letters, and comparing that to arbitrarily selecting a few out of the middle. Generally, when a name is abbreviated, it's some sort of shortening to the beginning or end. In the case of my name, people shorten it all the time to DE, which makes sense as the first letter of each word. I guess I should be offended though, since I didn't specifically state I want it to be DE! I mean, how did anyone know I didn' want Diamond?

As for this "I specifically make an effort to set it aside" (referring to a tendancy to predjudge people) all you're doing is making a clost claim that you do and the rest of us don't based on nothing more than your different attitude. In point of fact you're not; you're simply assigning moral superiority to yourself and then castigating everyone else for sharing your views.

Most of the african american's I meet are really ... well normal compared to what you guys say here, but than I guess they had to be educated and have enough logic and ambition to be sent to another country to work by their employee. I can't say I have had too much experience with this type of things when I was over there either. Las Vegas was really ... normal.

Bullshit Diamondeye. In 10 years of the glade, the only person who has tried to use "Theri" as a shortening of "TheRiov" was Vindicarre (until this thread). Vindicarre goes out of his way to be insulting to me on any number of threads. He doesn't care for me. *shrug* That's fine. But I have to think that if it never occurred to ANYONE in 10 years of the glade to call me that, and the only people who now do usually include a "**** you" type statement along with it, its intended to be obnoxious. That's fine. I wasn't actually going to complain about it other than to return the favor.

As for shortenings, I capitalize my user name for the specific reason that it indicates focus. DE is a logical shortening of "Diamondeye" as it is a compound word "TR", "Riov" are both logical shortenings of TheRiov.

I don't see why you're so upset about people calling you "Theri", which is an abbreviation of your name and is not a real word. So you can't say it's derogatory. I don't complain when people call me "Lex".

This is even stupider than when Montegue would get upset over calling liberals "libs".

Ok guys, you have to admit that "Theri" has a female connotation to it. It's subtle, but it's an insult...if you're gonna call him a whiny little girl, come out and say it, don't be passive aggressive about it.

And? What exactly is illogical about "Theri"? DE is logical, but so is Diamond, or possibly eye, but people go with DE for some reason. I didn't make it a habit to get all pissy back in EQ, or here, when people used one of those other versions.

I don't believe Coro misspells words for "fun". Elision is a word that, in this context (FarSky vs Far Sky), would be understandable in its usage.
