I can't find Themiscyra in an atlas!

You have a vagina though, so you might be able to find it on Diana's map.

Ah, if only she'd give me the map.

I'm confused...are we now looking for Themiscyra on the map, or a vagina on the map? Also, is the map, in fact, a lady?

My original comment stands and was meant to be interpreted straightly. For what it's worth, most analyses suggest that Amazons hailed from northern Turkey. I think Themiscyra is presumed to be a coastal town on the Black Sea today.

Regarding the costume:

Editorial: Is the New Wonder Woman Costume Designed For An Upcoming Movie?
As bad as the new costume looks I certainly hope not! Plus Take a look at Linda Carter's Wonder Woman Gallery over at ComicBookHotties.com!
I don't know if you read MarkyMarc's article about Jim Lee's redesign of the Wonder Woman out fit and a revamped story line starting in issue #600. If you have not then you can check that out HERE! Yes as far as I can tell Markymarc was the first to post this article.

I have read a few headlines saying something to the tune of "Wonder Woman Gets A New Costume for a Movie?" I have to say I certainly hope not and let me tell you why. First you should see the pic of the new costume:
Image
It's all wrong, this looks like Jubilee got stuck in a worm hole trying to crossover into the DC universe and then somehow got mistaken for being Wonder Woman! I really admire Jim Lee's work, but not this time. I realize this was something he was told to do but I think DC is heading down the wrong direction turning Wonder Woman into Wonder Girl, and not in a good way.

Wonder Woman is iconic! She is right up there with Superman in the DC Universe and on top of that her original costume is a perfect nod to the Flag of the United States of America!
Image

Notice the good ol Red, White, and Blue painted beautifully on Wonder Woman's body. At this point no one is quite sure what the underlying reasons are for DC's revamp. One thing is for sure that the redesign is rubbing the fans the wrong way. Nikki Finke is pissed over at Deadline, you can check her take on the subject Here!

Nikki seems to be upset that male writers and male artist's are taking liberties that female writers and artists wouldn't do. That's an entirely different article all together. What I am not cool with is the possibility that DC is changing Wonder Woman's outfit and back story to fit in with current times, that will be easier to transition to the big screen. It's like Barakapool all over again. Why fix what aint broke!!!

Wonder Woman's legs are too fantastic to put in leather pants over the... Bikini-bottom.

My 5-year-old had this to say:
"Why is she wearing pants? Wonder Woman is not supposed to wear pants. She is supposed to wear shorts."

No way I could ever be confused as any kind of authority on comic book characters, but that doesn't look much like Wonder Woman to me.

You might could pass her off as Wonder Girl (if such a thing exists).

Edit:
She just looks too young and frail to be wonder woman to me.

I guess Linda Carter spoiled me for that character. She just seems so much more "substantial"...

Both costumes looked fine to me. Not quite getting what the big deal is.

The costume isn't as big a problem as the actress. They should hire Olivia Wilde for that part.

I still don't get the objection to the costume.

I should clarify - I get the objection that she doesn't look like the classic Wonder Woman costume we all know and love. What I don't get is the objection that the costume looks like a skeazy hooker costume. So does the original Wonder Woman costume!

Many comic ladies dress like hookers and are drawn in impossible proportions. They appeal to the target audience.

Yes, but the costume should at least look like I couldn't go down to the local porn shop and buy one in a vinyl bag off the rack for $19.99.
It cheapens the movie.

I don't mind it because it doesn't adhere to the original costume...I mind it because it's just a very poor design.

The revision is better, but still pretty crummy.

...

Wonder Woman's costume is a bustier, blue panties, and a pair of hooker boots. You have strange notions of what does and does not look like it would be sold at a porn shop.

I think it's the actress. I'm willing to bet if we took the first costume presented in this thread and slapped it on Christina Hendricks, then dyed her hair black (a heinous crime!) people would love it. Well, so long as the boots were red.

Still wouldn't work ...

Christina Hendricks is not suitable for playing Wonder Woman.

She doesn't have to play Wonder Woman. It's an experiment in how objectionable the costume really is. She's the right age range, and her breasts don't look like a bad boob job.

Let's be honest here ...

You just want to see Christina Hendricks tarted up in Diana of Themiscyra's monomolecular 1 piece. That's a noble aspiration, but it's not going to change the outcome of the discussion.

Wonder Woman's new costume makes her look like an alum of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. 'nuff said?
