Picked this game up yesterday. I had a lot of fun with it in singleplayer last night, getting a soldier to level 10 or 11. I bet multiplayer is a blast, and plan on giving it a go this evening.

Anyone else playing?

I broke down and got it for the Xbox instead of the PC because I was bored last week and didn't feel like waiting any longer. It's pretty fun so far (single player only, don't have Live gold) but man those random guns are hit or miss...

I need to see if I still have some of those free 1 month coupons for live gold so I can hop online and try it out that way.

I'll probably be picking this up in a few months, once the dust has settled from Dragon Age and the new Ratchet and Clank.

Have a friend that hasn't quit playing since it hit, he's level 37 or something. So I think he likes it. I'm definitely interested, but holy crap there are too many games coming out.

I've been playing the hell out of it for the last week, hit 37 or 38 on Monday and finally took a break after taking down the last boss.

Have it on the Xbox.

Multiplayer, even with just one other person, is much more fun.

My friends were planning on getting this together(we all play L4D together), but my internet deciding to be a whore has kinda put that to rest since I can only play online games between the hours of 2am and 2pm before my ping skyrockets to 1000+. I've put off a lot of purchases until this is resolved.

Looking at the screenshots I feel like I wouldn't be able to get into the setting of the game. Visually it looks like a cartoony Fallout 3, and I couldn't even keep myself entertained in that game without cheating.

The fact that it has a Fallout 3 feel to it, but now able to be done with friends is what sold me on the game.

Now to figure out when to pick it up based on current & soon to be releasing games. LOL

I'll admit that the post-apocalyptic setting is a huge selling point for me. I love that kind of setting.

I'm trying to put into words how it's different from Fallout 3...

It's not a Bethesda game, for one. It's much more shooter. It's a first-person Diablo, I suppose would be a moderately decent way to put it.

The feel was different enough that I was going "WHEEEE" instead of pondering my next move all the time.

Fight for your life! is awesome. :)

Multiplayer is a lot of fun. I was playing with random people, though, so loot was snatched up quickly. I'm sure it would be better with a familiar group (need before greed :P.) Still a ton of fun, though. :)

Fallout 3 meets Diablo? Sounds fun.

Found an awesome assault rifle last night. :)

Fires 3 shot bursts, but the damage is sick. And the zoom lets me snipe like a hunter. Reload time is almost zero. :)

Yeah, we call those Battle Rifles.

We (little brother/me) have noticed that most gun classes have two separate types:

Combat Rifle: Battle Rifle (1 or 3 shot burst, usually has a zoom scope, high damage, 6-12 round mag) and Machine Gun (Fully automatic, lower damage, large mag size)
Revolver: Shotgun and regular
Repeater: Machine pistol and sniper pistol
Shotgun: Hunting (tight spread at long range) and regular. Also "Holy crap, it shoots rockets!" versions.
Launcher: Single-rocket and Helix rocket
SMG: Pounder (slow refire, but big damage) and regular

I don't know if there's other versions of sniper rifles, but Eridian weapons come in all varieties and use their own Proficiency.

We've also been contemplating all the guns and trying to figure out what each manufacturer does both from Marcus's commentary, and weapon stats.

Atlas: Best all-around, but weakest on reload.
Dahl: Best recoil reduction.
Tediore: Best reload times.
Hyperion: Best accuracy.
Vladof: Best rate of fire
Jakobs: Best damage per shot
S&S: Biggest magazine size
Torgue: Good all-around, especially in recoil reduction, damage, and fire rate
Maliwan: Always elemental weapons, and always shields with either elemental resistance or elemental explosions.
Anshin: Doesn't make weapons, but tends to make good all-around shields and an exotic grenade type.

There also seems to be some consistency in uniques for a given manufacturer and weapon. >_> Tediore has a massive +ammo regen on their battle rifles, for example.

Apparently there is a pretty big bug (on the PC version, at least) that only shows 4 lines of item text when some items have 6 lines. This can cause you to sell really good items because you don't even know that they have special bonuses. You can edit an .ini file on your PC to make the text smaller, but even that only shows up to 5 lines.. Here it is, anyway:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\borderlands\WillowGam e\Localization\INT\gd_globals.INT
Code:
AttributePresentationTranslation=$NUMBER$ $CONSTRAINT$ $DESCRIPTION$

I...broke down and picked up Borderlands for the 360, along with Fallout 3 GOTY Edition. I'm waiting on it to be shipped to me, as Best Buy had it backordered, and it wasn't available at the BB at which we picked up the rest of the order yesterday.

You and Phe will enjoy the post apocalyptic aesthetic of Fallout. I expect that next year at Dragon*Con, you will have a Vault Boy (or Girl!) costume in tow.

WOOO! I have not been addicted to a game like I am addicted to borderlands in a long time. I am really worried about what will happen when they deliver dragon age: origins tomorrow. Could be head exploding.

Also, does anyone else love the theme song? (Farsky should take Phe as Lilith to con next year, she would make an awesome siren)

It's going to be an interesting week and end, with Borderlands and Dragon Age.

I have to say... I started playing this game yesterday and I definitely wanna be playing it right now at work. Currently stuck on killing Bonehead. Maybe I need to level more.
