I think the symbolic aspect of the pants is he only gets the pants back if he is leaving. He likes where he is.

The silliest thing I remember about that point in time. Shel and I got in a silly little argument and we created level 1 rangers to duel it out. I made a human, he made a half-elf, I won every round - solely because human level ones were more durable.

To my recollection, my only half-elf was my bard. My ranger was human. Also, I never dueled or PvP'd in EQ.
