Thoughts on layout?

We're looking at pronorm y-line, mereway futura or alno starline. Plain white, preferably matt, finish. Silestone countertops in either grey quartz, or white quartz with coloured flecks throughout. White glass splashbacks.

The service voids at the top left and right of the plan are structural and cant be altered, unfortunately. The one on the left is a vent any extractor will have to run to. The one on the right is our water supply & hot water tank.

Extraction is a ***** ;( if we run an overhead hood its going to ruin the openness of the kitchen, but if we use a downdraught extractor, we're going to probably have to use an in room filter rather than running to the vent - I have no idea how effective those charcoal filter units are these days.

Our current plan includes:
1 45cm wide dishwasher door (position 3 below)
1 60cm wide washing machine door (position 5)

1 tall (230cm?) cabinet for 60cm tall oven & 45cm tall microwave oven (position 1)
1 tall narrow (230cm tall, no wider than 50cm) pantry cupboard with pull out baskets (position 2)
These two together take up a 110cm gap between the two immovable service voids.

1 60cm sink unit (position 4)
1 120cm corner unit with pull out tray shelves (position 6)
2 tall 60cm wide cabinets for full size (178cm) fitted freezer/fridge, storage above (position 7 & 8)
1 120cm wide drawer unit (positions 11, 12)
1 60cm wide drawer unit (position 13)
4 half depth 60cm drawer units (position 10, 14, 15, 16)

3 80cm wide tall (90cm?) wall cabinets (position 17, 18, 19)

My favorite pic is the first spoiler one with the steps. If you can make something like that, it'd be awesome.

I think they are too austere for my taste. I grew up in kitchens (my mom's and grandma's) that were warm, inviting and where everyone hung out. Those two kitchens would have me super-paranoid about spilling anything on the white, touching the glass, etc. They are gorgeous but feel cold to me. Just my opinion.

I'll bet you every surface on those counters is very easily cleaned (not to mention, stains easily spotted).

I'm a function before form guy, especially when it comes to kitchens. By this I mean, what is the proximity of the fridge to the microwave? :p

I old fashioned (and old), and prefer more a country feel to my kitchens (and furnishings in general).

Natural wood colors, earth tones, warm and cozy, etc...

Of course I live in a tiny condo and my kitchen looks nothing like this. However, the critical microwave/fridge proximity factor is just perfect!

Given the choices you provided above, I'm not really sure I have a preference, and if I did, it would probably not be for the right reasons. =)

Silestone is a sealed synthetic quartz - think stone like granite but more uniform in colour & durability
