It's all about the game, and how you play it
All about control, and if you can take it
All about your debt, and if you can pay it
It's all about pain, and who's gonna make it
I am the game, you don't wanna play me
I am control, no way you can shake me
I am heavy debts, no way you can pay me
I am the pain, and I know you can't take me
Look over your shoulder, ready to run
Like a good little ***** from a smoking gun!
I am the game and I make the rules
So move on out or you can die like a fool
Try to figure out what my move's gonna be
Come on over, sucker, why don't you ask me?
Don't you forget there's a price you can pay
Cause I am the game and I want to play

That's pretty neat Nitefox, haven't heard that since I was a kid.

One of my all time favorites next. Its back in my head and I don't mind a bit.

This is the intro song one of the DJs on a local radio station uses. I have had it stuck in my head, but I was only able to find out who did it today...

Sufjan Stevens, The Seer's Tower:

Lyrics:
Spoiler:
In the tower above the earth
There is a view that reaches far
Where we see the universe
I see the fire, I see the end

Seven miles above the earth
There is Emmanuel of mothers
With his sword, with his robe
He comes dividing man from brothers

In the tower above the earth, we built it for Emmanuel
In the powers of the earth, we wait until it rails and rails
In the tower above the earth, we built it for Emmanuel
Oh, my mother, she betrayed us, but my father loved and bathed us

Still I go to the deepest grave
Where I go to sleep alone

Jesca Hoop, Dreams in the Hollow:

Just...ignore the emo anime fanvid. It's the only version I can find online. Also, it cuts off at the very end. Argh. Lyrics aren't quite right either, although Jesca is rather hard to understand sometimes. Maybe I've got it wrong. I don't know.

I've listened to this album dozens of times, and the bridge starting around 1:50 gives me chills every time. No one else writes music like this.

Lyrics:
Spoiler:
why do we
want to be
ballerinas when we grow up
when we grow up
little boys dream the night away
with fighting fires
when we grow up
torlege releve rondejambe
and round and up
round and up
firemen slide on down the pole and sound
the siren
everybody up

all is well in my sorrow
isn't she a beauty
burning hall
ash and shadow
here comes the hero

little eyes
small but wide
young but wiser
all looking up
all looking up
for your hat
and your axe
and your yellow jacket
daddy get up
ash to ash dust to dust
none could muster
daddy get up
daddy get up
they see what you didn't do
when consumed by fire

days glow
sleep in the hollow
dreams in the hollow
pesky old crow
heather and thistle
no prints to follow
hope that they follow
hope's all they know

all is well in my sorrow
isn't she a beauty
burning hall
ash and shadow
here comes the hero

oh i tried to put it out
but the big tree was falling
and now i find him reaching out
but the big tree it fell

cross the sea
her dancing broken dream
so i'm lacing up
i'm lacing up
for musing starts
in broken hearts
the most courageous beauty
so i'm lacing up
mother's milk
ragged silk
chalk's in the hall tree
tattered toe shoes
broken toes
releve turn and pray
for mother's broken dancer

days glow..
all is well..

Nothin like some nice gritty blues / rock and roll for a sweaty southern day. Only thing better would be if it was the weekend.

For best results:
*Finish what you're doing (grilling, fixing the house, building something in the yard, repairing car)
*Find a nice spot in the shade
*Pop open a cold beverage of your choice
*Put on The Big Come Up by the Black Keys (examples below)
*Chill wayyyy the hell out for a half hour.

Black Keys - Brooklyn Bound

Black Keys - I'll Be Your Man

Black Keys - Do The Rump

Black Keys - Heavy Soul

My department is playing a world domination game of axis & allies, and one of our doc writers wanted to be a part of the game so she put a small aircraft carrier in the Indian ocean. She wanted a fighter too, so I printed out a little tiny Top Gun Maverick for her. She thought it was funny. But then she asked for another pilot, thinking she'd get Goose. So I printed out a shirtless Val Kilmer spinning a volleyball.

What I didn't realize is that every single time I glance over at the game board that's up on the wall next to my desk that this song would pop into my head. The joke has backfired on me.

I can't remember if I've posted this before. I haven't on this Glade, anyway.

Imogen Heap - Just for Now (live):

Loops for the loop god(dess)!

Blows my mind every. time.

I'm not really sure why, but I'm totally digging this song lately. I think its really cute, and a nice modern love song. When did I turn into such a sap???
