Not true. I regemmed my Blood DK straight ArP and gave him both Mjolnir and a Grim Toll, and he's now pushing the 10-11k range on straight up tank and spanks.

I am not geared for blood spec, it requires stacking lots and lots of str and most importantly, a killer weapon.

Aesir's Edge, Voldrethar, World Carver, Justice Bringer are all acceptable. Dual Wield Frost requires stacking even more Strength and Blood, because it's almost entirely attack power based. Unholy is simply very weak the moment and probably untenable as far as major raiding goes.

Yes, but those weapons are completely inaccessible to me because I don't raid. I have 2x Mugs from the Brewfest Event, which actually are a huge step up from two 200 lvl 143 DPS 1handers that were both 1.5 speed. I could squeeze out almost 4k consistenly on 25m PUG's pre Ulduar with nothing more than 200 lvl items (one BoE sword, and a badge loot sword).

While the abilities are AP based, I wouldn't say it's any more dependent than Blood. All DK abilities scale w/ AP, so after reaching 14% hit (11% if you take Virulence), all you really need is AP, Crit, Haste and ArP. Of those four ArP isn't fully utilized by any build because all rely in part on Blood Plague and Frost Fever. Same could be said about Haste and Crit, but Haste and Crit at least can affect Icy Touch, Howling Blast, Blood Boil, Pestilence.

Heart Strike, Blood Strike, and Death Strike all deal Physical Damage, as does Plague Strike. Necrosis scales off the current hit, even though it's shadow damage. So, that leaves Death Coil as the only Non-Physical major ability in a Blood Spec. Armor Penetration is definitely the best secondary stat for a Blood DK.

And, yes, all abilities scale off attack power, but we're not talking about a significant enough increase that 240 strength is better than 240 Armor Penetration. And you only need 10% Hit if you have Draenei, as far as Spells Go. And parsing shows that Critical Strike and Armor Penetration exceed Spell Capping after 10% anyway, whether you have Virulence or Not.

C) Icehowl. He should be tanked next to a wall. You should DPS with your back against said wall. Every once in a while, he'll jump to the center and fling every one against the walls. He looks at someone, then charges that person. If he tramples someone, he enrages for massive damage. If he looks at you run AWAY. If he's not looking at you, and you're not in his path, stay away, but be close to get in and whoop his ***.

Just an fyi, but you can melee him from anywhere, as long as you're at max melee range. If you are, his spin/knockback doesn't hit you.

Thought I'd add that reason you need to go all out in phase 3 is that he is doing an aoe life leach. Everyone present is taking a fair amount of damage, and he's being healed by said damage. If enough people drop, he starts gaining hp faster than you can remove it.

True. However, just in case, its easier to just make sure you have your back against a wall. Especially if your tank moves him around a bit.

There's not much a melee DPS can do about the life leech though. Just get in it and hit it like Ike.

Introducing the Pet Store

Today we’re pleased to introduce the Pet Store for World of Warcraft, a new way for players to obtain in-game pets to join them on their adventures in Azeroth. Two brand-new companions are now available for purchase exclusively at the Pet Store in the online Blizzard Store: Lil’ K.T. and the Pandaren Monk.

Make a Difference: Pandaren Monk Charity Pet

Enter the Pandaren Monk, ( http://us.blizzard.com/store/details.xml?id=1100000763 ) a martial-arts expert who’s here to help celebrate the upcoming fifth anniversary of World of Warcraft. He may be cute, but he’s proof that even the softest of critters can overcome the hardest of circumstances. For every Pandaren Monk that finds its way to a player’s side between now and the end of the year (December 31, 2009 at 11:59 PDT), we’ll donate 50 percent of the $10 purchasing price to the Make-a-Wish Foundation in an effort to brew up a little hope, strength, and joy in a child’s life.

Lil’ K.T., the Littlest Lich

Lil’ K.T. is a miniature lich who bears a striking resemblance to the legendary lord of Naxxramas, Kel’Thuzad. But don’t let his diminutive stature fool you: Lil’ K.T. has a diabolical laugh and wields true power at his bony fingertips, randomly wreaking icy havoc on critters who dare to cross his path. You can now buy this new pet for $10 on the Blizzard Store. (http://us.blizzard.com/store/ )

In order to receive a purchased pet, you’ll need to merge your World of Warcraft account with a Battle.net account. For more information on Battle.net, please visit the FAQ. ( https://us.battle.net/faq/index.html ) For more information on the new Pet Store, visit the Pet Store FAQ. ( http://us.blizzard.com/support/article. ... leId=29845 )

As an obsessive-compulsive pet collector, I am very much displeased with Blizzard over this. Money for pets, mounts, and other cosmetic things is nothing new, I suppose, but the other options to date have been fairly marginal for various reasons. This one will not be quite so much, and it's a step down a slippery slope for Blizzard to take to begin with. Perhaps it's another step into the future of the industry to make the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia that much rosier.

Ah well. When I first saw him, I knew the Pandaren Monk pet was too cool a pet to actually earn in game. :( The coolest ones are always only for people who pay rather than people who play. Alas!

A Blizzard ploy to squash negativity on this cash shop release of theirs!

...though whether entirely well-intentioned or not, it will go to good ends regardless, so I can support that. Doesn't mean I have to support the whole concept though.

And now I feel like a bad person for arguing against it! This is what Blizzard wanted all along! Argh!

Hell of a lot better than Blizzard charging $40 to watch an online stream of Blizzcon and giving away a pet with it.

Aaaaaaaand Phe wants a Pandaren. Right now.

Unfortunately, the Blizzard site doesn't seem to want to finish the order process.

I want the Pandaren and Lil' KT as well, but what I really want is for them to offer Mini Tyrael for sale! Want want want!

How many WoW players are there in the US? Millions, I'm guessing. At least one is going to try to write off this as a charitable contribution, I can't wait to see that attachment.

Yup, welcome to cash grab blizzard. It's a sad day, but if xbox live has proven anything, people will pay real money for useless garbage. We are now officially in the microtransaction age. I doubt my wife will be able to withstand the pull of a pandaren or mini-KT for very long. :)

I don't really mind micro-transactions as long as you can't buy stuff that actually affects gameplay. Pets and mounts and the like are fair game, imo.

$10 is way more than it should cost though, imo. $5 is much more reasonable, and even less would probably be fine.

All I know is that blizz just made a ton of money yesterday, saw panda's all over the place.

I would have most definitely purchased this pet yesterday, if Uinan hadn't beat me to it!

However, I don't really see $10 as a huge waste when half of that is going to help kids.

If everyone recalls, a couple of years ago, Blizzard made a very sick little boys wish come true by allowing him to hang out with them and the development team. As I recall, this little man who has a brain tumor, was allowed to make a new weapon, character and quest of his very own. For one day, that little man got his wish - and I'm ok with that.

So, if Blizzard wants to charge $5 for the pet...which is apparantly a more reasonable cost to some...and charge another $5 to help other kids that are sick make THEIR wishes come true - I'm ok with that to.

So people have actually been able to purchase this? I get the final step, go to complete the order, and a message pops up that says "the order has encountered an error." I've tried five times, Phe still doesn't have her pet, and I've been dinged for $50 in my bank account. Grrr.

The $5 that goes to the kids is fine with me, but that's only for the pandaren pet. Lil' KT is $10 and it all goes to blizzard. And after Dec 31, the $10 for the panda all goes to blizz as well, that's then the make-a-wish thing ends.

There's also a quest in mulgore that they had him design and has some voice that is him. It's the one next to the bridge that asks if you'll help find his dog. IIRC, he had a rl dog to help him with some of the problems he had (I'm totally spacing what these animals are called right now...).

*edit* errr... you mentioned the quest, but I'll leave that tidbit in there anyways. Oh, and the weapon was a crossbow, and has flavor text that references the kid as well. Something about being created to his avatar's specifications or something.

Honestly, "useless garbage" probably makes up about 75% of EVERYTHING consumers buy. Show me a purchase, and I can show you a point of view that deems it useless.
