Heard this on a podcast of my favorite radio morning show. They had a girl email in that she needed advice. She said she had been married for 10 years and found a condom. Her husband and her don't use them, so she asked him where it came from. His response was that he used them to masturbate.

I agree with Lenas and Vindi here, on the basis of innocent until proven guilty. That is one interesting piece of circumstantial evidence though.

I don't get it? Except for maybe DS's explanation. If he is using heroin then that's a reason to lie. But why else would he have a condom? And if he did just have it in his wallet as something to have, why lie?

Not really enough information.

I would think there would have to be some other indications that there were problems in the relationship besides the condom if there was cheating going on.

That said, it surely is very suspicious.

The condom is circumstantial evidence. There is more than one explanation for why he would have it. The fact that you're looking for a "reason to lie" says something about where you are beginning the inquiry, and it isn't a place that allows for him telling the truth.

So, you think she made him lie because she confronted him with the condom? Just curious as to why he might have a condom. Seems to me that if it was innocent he could just tell the truth?

True, she asked he answered.. I was just wondering if his answer was a lie because no man would ever masturbate with a condom. I don't know if men do...the girl on the radio didn't either, so she was asking for advice as to whether it might be the truth or if consensus was that it was a lie he told out of desperation when confronted.
