$50.00 to fill my gastank today.

I honestly think that is a first in my life. I don't yet own a large vehicle (SUV) nor have I in my life, so I have had comparably small gastanks.

My little Chevy Cavalier needed all 12 gallons for a fill and it stopped dead on $50.00.

GRRRRRR!

That is all.

Almost $20 to fill my motorcycle tank the other day :(

It's only a 13 litre tank!

Pff, $50, ha! The pump caps out on price before my tank is full these days.

So you get the rest of it for free? Start carrying gas cans and fill those up, too.

Or I don't get a full tank.

Heh, come to CA. Been spending upwards of $65 to fill up the minivan for years. Even my Subaru (15-gallon tank) needs over $50.

What's sad is that I'm old enough to remember 31-cent gas from the 60s. I clearly recollect looking out the window at a pump with the figure on it.

Gas is ~$4.20 here right now.

LMAO! It takes more than twice that $50 to fill my tanks...two tanks, 35 gallons total! Since I don't drive my truck that much, though, those two filled tanks last me quite a while...unless I'm taking a road trip.

Oooooohhh...did someone say road trip??

Oh, and Aethien I remember seeing 25 cents per gallon when I was very young. :D

Random aside...
Isn't seeing "unleaded" fuel at a gas station sort of an anachronism at this point? When was the last time leaded fuel was legal? Can't we just start saying "good, better, best" or something?

So you aren't allowed to fill up?

some pumps cut at $50.00, usually so the gas station can charge a second fee to the CC company when you run a second transaction to finish getting gas.

I remember first running into that issue a couple summers back, quite a surprise. Although, I believe the CC companies charge the fee, and not the other way around. The station may charge you, though.

I think this was done, particularly in high risk areas, to help minimize loss from drive offs.

The few places that do it here, if you pay inside, there is no purchase limit.

That makes sense Midgen, although the limits I see now are $75-$100.

A place around here caps the Credit Card limit at $20 (to fight drive-offs). I can use my ATM as a debit or credit, but I'd have to enter my PIN to use it as a debit card. Really don't like to put it in on some machine that may be stealing my numbers, so I just don't go there any more.

At $100, or at $99.99? I can see a reason for $99.99 (ran out of numbers), but if it will roll to $100, there is no technical reason for it not to go to $999.99.

Even if it can't scroll up to 9 in the hundreds column, which is ridiculous, I'm absolutely astounded that it won't go to 199.99.

It doesn't have anything to do with the physical capabilities of the dial.
