I wouldn't expect the purple. I liked the purple bow as a compromise. I didn't read any Ultimate Avengers, so I'm not up on the changes to his character from there.

Dark hair, short military-esque buzzcut, black costume, recruited (from his Olympic career? I don't remember if they kept that) by S.H.I.E.L.D. as a dark ops kind of agent pre-Avengers (well, Ultimates). Quiet and efficient more than the quipping prankster.

Ah, sounds good. I wonder if they're trying to differentiate him more from Green Arrow, then. :)

That's a plot point, though, Fester. I don't necessarily expect events to be at all Ultimates-like.

wow.... looking at the Wiki for the Thor movie, most of the actors took the part just because Branagh was directing it.

And ya know... I knew he was Gilderoy Lockhart, Victor Frankenstein and that because of those two roles he was forgiven for Arliss Loveless. I did not realize he was such an accomplished director or of the extensive portfolio he has as an actor.

Henry V, directed, starred and made it wonderful. That was my introduction to him. Still a fan.

Nope. Not asian, here.

Anyway, neat things I noticed seeing this again last night:

-Odin's ravens (Huginn & Muninn) on either side of his throne during the celebration for Thor
-the 8 legs on Sleipnir, Odin's mount
-foreshadowing in Odin's comment to his young sons, "both of you were born to be kings."
-Said to Agent Coulson: "Know this, son of Coul. You and I, we fight for the same cause"

Need to see it again. I noticed the ravens, but didn't notice the 8 legs on Sleipnir.

Cannot refute this hypothesis by observation yet.

He did nothing in particular for me, and I'm primarily a Swede. So there's that data point to refine or support your hypothesis.

To further refine this study, what type of man does do something in particular for you?

Hmm. I sense you may not be a useful datapoint.
Perhaps we'd have more success with FarSky.

I'm sorry I'm not more useful. Perhaps, later, when you're trying to determine the source of Hemsworth's appeal, I can be of service, as a fellow Swede with a similarly classic Swedish facial structure.

I don't think Hemsworth is Swedish...on the other hand, Stellan Skarsgård is. You could try competing with him.

Err, yeah, he's Norwegian, isn't he? I meant to say Scandinavian; it's all pretty much the same, genetically/phenotypically, between Norwegians, Swedes, and I want to say Danes, as well. Finns get some deviation from the others, as they get a lot of mixing with Sami and Russian populations.

Hemsworth is an English name, and he's from Australia. Which isn't to say he might not have Scandinavian blood. (My grandmother was fullblooded Norwegian.)

Hmm. Maybe I'm thinking of somebody else they were looking at for the role, then. Yeah, I bet that's it. Weren't they talking about Stellan Skarsgård's son at one point? That's probably what I'm thinking of.

Still, it wouldn't surprise me to find some Scandinavian blood in his ancestors. He's got a lot of the very prototypical facial proportions.
