This is not cause for celebration. Have you ever considered the great disservice you teachers do the rest of us by taking a 3 month vacation every summer? If I'm going to spend all these tax dollars on glorified babysitters, they should at least have the decency to nanny year round, as I have no desire to deal with anyone's children.

/secretly hoping there is at least a little bit of sarcasm included in Khross' post, but expecting that there is not.

Name the three best reasons to be a teacher:

June, July, and August!

Please enjoy on my behalf, it's the one thing I miss about not teaching anymore.

Khross:

First, not a glorified babysitter here, I do my job, I do it well, and MY scores can prove that. Second, this is my first summer in 13 years that I am not running a summer camp, I am officially retired from camp. Lastly, I will remember you and your tax dollars, while I am lying on the beach down the shore.

Have a great summer!

And the fact that you're so totally incapable of recognizing a completely tongue and cheek post should tell me what, Oonagh?

Seriously, my disdain for our public education is well known, but I can only think of once where I specifically called you out about something; you do, however, have a penchant for taking my criticisms of American public education personally.

Come on, Khross. I didn't detect the TIC intent of your post either, especially in a thread dedicated to a topic we both know really grinds your gears.

What would you infer with the information presented as such? Your posting history in such threads belies your humorous intent in this one.

Or are we supposed to know the Khrossian translation of "..."

Teachers are the only people who get a reasonable amount of vacation on this continent. I'd kill for european attitudes toward vacation time here...

Ok, so I didn't know you adhere strictly to the rules and post accordingly in the respective forums.

Regardless, I do believe that the both of us will now think of you when sunning down the shore this year. :P

When you click post reply; this awesome screen comes up that has a bunch of emotion implying smileys. These smileys assist in letting others know when one is joking or not. Be one with the emoticons.

...

Tell you what about what? It was a joke in return. Sarcasm is not well-expressed in typing obviously because your comment, from the views of at least two others, does not come off very humorous as well whether in Hellfire or not. Anyway, I really would like you to quote me, other than the comment above which does sound like it comes off personally, when I have taken anything you have said about education personally? In all honesty, I do not remember especially because most of the Hellfire threads about education, I don't post in them at all.

The only thread I can recall that I last spoke in depth with you about had to do with " whole language learning" as far as I can remember I didn't say anything that came off sounding like I was taking comments personally. I was telling you what the "system" thinks about it. Not me. Also the only other thing I can remember that sounds off would be from the Last Will and Testament Thread.

Quote:
To Foamy of course our child and my love
To Elmo my signature for all documents of support for canidates
To Hannibal pagers, a copy of goldeneye, and my comcast bill- YELL AT THOSE Bastards for me
To Michael lots and lots of See's chocolate- Yummy
To Mus- Moosey Hugs and whatever your brain can fancy
To Khross- My job, so you can fix the public school system

This was a joke as well because I know you are the most passionate person about the Public System on here. When I meant fix it I didn't mean it in a condescending way I meant it in a tongue in cheek way to fix the problem.

I don't know if you do read my posts about education, but for the majority they side against the Public School System and on the side of many gladers. That is when I actually do post because for the most part I don't care to get into conversations in the Hellfire about it. I work for the enemy, so I would rather just keep my opinions and thoughts whether people agree with them or not to myself. Plus, I don't have time to post to much because I am off doing my job. Well except as of this week because I have more time with finals.

I don't take it personally but will defend my job when people say it is easy. Especially, when many times all fault is blamed on teachers and none is given to poor parenting, but that is another issue.

I don't know what your impression of me is and whatever it is I would hope that you would not make false ones of me. I read your posts in hellfire and they are well thought-out, genuine, and for the most part have evidence to back them up. I know how you feel about the public school system and I agree, however, I work for the enemy because I know where the money is and here in PA it is in the Public School System. Call me a hypocrite, but unlike your private schools who can kick you out for sneezing wrong, I have to teach your tired, and your poor, and your hungry because until school is no longer mandated as a requirement this is what I do. Until education is a choice(don't mean public, private or home I mean ignorance Vs. Knowledge) this is what I do. Until taxes no longer pay for my salary this is what I do.

Overall the only comments that I take personally on this board, good or bad, are those that come from my husband Foamy or my friends Elmo and Hannibal, because they know me. No one else here does.

Overall go ahead and bad mouth the public school system in this country all you want, but unless you can quote me taking it personally, please don't make assumptions.

I WANT THE SUMMER OFF, TOO! On the other hand, I don't want to deal with other people's children the rest of the year.

Oh, who am I kidding. I deal with other people's children anyway. Just because they're adults doesn't improve them any...

Not to mention your children are getting old enough that other people's children are bound to start showing up at your house eventually.

That started a few weeks ago when we got a free Wii. Go figure.

It's funny how smart phone graphics are almost as good as Wii graphics.

Certainly true, Lex. But smartphones don't entertain kids like a Wii does.

If I was much younger, even 10 or 11, I would have disliked the Wii if other things had vastly better graphics. Different kids are different though.
