I don't do stupid anymore, and neither should you.

I think he's being sincere. If not, stop responding to him. The complaints against his posts are more annoying than his posts in general. YMMV.

This, a million times this. It's on topic. If you don't like it - IGNORE IT. And in a thread about being free to express yourself. Come on, guys....

They should just require a certain number of complaints, or something, I don't know. People should be left alone unless they are really bothering people. Then, well, it's a judgement call. And bothering the cop doesn't count.

You can't have sincerity without sin.

I find it amusing you are trying to censor people yet advocating free expression at the same time.

I'm just critical of some folk's "anti-troll" techniques. I don't see how that is trying to censor anyone. I'm just saying that I'd never even notice most of Lex's posting if some folks stopped making a bit deal about it after every post he makes. Just follow Rynar's advice.

Telling people they are more annoying than their target is not censorship. Nor is providing advice on another option available.

Like I've said in the past numerous times, I write how I want, and people can respond how they want. I'm not obligated to write well-reasoned and fair opinions every time, I write for my own enjoyment, similar to socializing. Feel free to put me on ignore. The people who ignore me are usually the ones who are annoying, so good riddance.

Right. Your original statement is implicit of desire to control. Just admit it. If you don't like what I write, here's an option available to you: get ****.

Not at all. Expressing my opinion that one post is more annoying than the other and providing an alternative option is in no way a desire to control. It is a merely information. I also expressed my preference for a particular course of voluntary action, which is also no means of control. Unless you feel controlled by any suggestion?

Unfortunately, "getting ****" is not a viable option everytime I don't like what you write. If it were, I'd be sure to read all of your posts. Regardless, I'll likely take one of two options if I read something I don't like: respond to it and say "I don't like what you wrote", or ignore it.

As if the decision to not respond hadn't occurred to me. It quite obviously does. I didn't chose it. You didn't like it. See my suggestion above.

It most certainly is an option. Just as much of an option as I have to ignore a post rather than respond to it to the benefit of your preference.

It's the rudest option when other people are just making polite suggestions. Common courtesy is the grease that lubes the friction where people meet. So, have a safety word.

Then one ponders why you are getting so worked up over it.

Hey, if you don't like my suggestion, ignore it ;)

Who said anyone was worked up. I suggested I was amused. I still am.

Tomorrow 3,000 people are going to be dancing there. Should be interesting.

Quote:
U.S. Park Police arrested five people on Saturday at the Jefferson Memorial. Their offense? Dancing.

The dancers were protesting an appeals court ruling handed down last week that the national monuments are places for reflection and contemplation -- and that dancing distracted from such an experience.

In 2008, Mary Brooke Oberwetter and a group of friends went to the Jefferson to commemorate the president's 265th birthday by dancing silently, while listening to music on headphones. Park Police ordered the revelers to disperse and arrested them when they did not.

Oberwetter sued on free speech grounds, but the appeals court ruled last week that her conduct was indeed prohibited "because it stands out as a type of performance, creating its own center of attention and distracting from the atmosphere of solemn commemoration" that Park Service regulations are designed to preserve.

Whereas Oberwetter and her friends visited the Jefferson near midnight, Saturday's protest was staged during the day, on Memorial Day weekend, in order to draw maximum attention. The organizers issued a public call for photographers and videographers to document the event, and the inevitable arrests (watch below).

According to Dcist, the dancers were charged with demonstrating without a permit and released

This happened May 28th.

Didn't see anything for over the weekend. Did it happen?

Yeah, that's TOTALLY not disruptive. I'd be pissed if I was there to see the monument on vacation and those assholes showed up and did that.

Of course, I work for the NPS, and agree with the policy completely. Funnily enough, so did the judges from the case brought up over the girl that did this same thing and tried to sue for limiting her first amendment rights. You should try reading the judges statement about the case, it's quite well thought out and written.

I said that since the beginning, but I was apparently "trolling".

People shouldn't be dancing there. It's disruptive and annoying to others.
