I ran across this guy that does Game of Thrones reviews on Youtube. He's pretty funny and entertaining.

This is his video for episodes 6 and 7. He makes a pretty clear break between episodes 6 and 7, so if you are waiting until it actually airs (tomorrow...errr...later today) to watch episode 7 you can stop the video when he says to.

NSFW due to language...

This week's episode left me with a sliver of hope. I'm gonna have to buy the books after this because I honestly don't feel I can wait for them to make the rest of the series.

Ser Barristan was awesome.

"Even now I could cut through the five of you like carving a cake!"

And Syrio Forel taking out 5 armed Lannister guardsmen with a wooden sword. Epic.

Oh, and I love the fact that I can watch the episodes 3 hours early on HBO Go.

I usually don't like reading books, but I really might have to borrow these from my brother.

What's the significance of the name "A Song of Ice and Fire"?

Presumably, the Ice is about the Starks, or the situation north of the wall, and the coming Winter. And the Fire, is most likely about the Targaryens. No one is really sure yet. Daenerys does have a vision, in which someone mentions the "song of Ice and Fire."

Quote:
The eponymous Song of Ice and Fire is mentioned only once in the series, in a vision Daenerys sees in A Clash of Kings: "He is the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire", spoken by a Targaryen (probably Daenerys's dead older brother Rhaegar Targaryen) about his infant son named Aegon. It is implied that there is a connection between the song, the promise, and Daenerys herself. This is established more clearly in A Feast for Crows, when Aemon Targaryen identifies Daenerys as the heir that was promised. However, the song and the promise are never mentioned again, and the song itself remains a mystery.

However, there are quite a few theories. One of which is VERY interesting, and the one that I happen to believe. I won't go into it here, unless you really want to hear it, because there are quite a few people who have not read the books. However, I think it is the most likely, and it totally fits with the whole Song of Ice and Fire bit.

Regarding the series title, spoilers well into Storm of Swords and touching on a Feast for Crows.

Spoiler:
I'm under the assumption that the Song of Ice and Fire that's referred to in the books in various places is in reference to the struggle between R'hllor and the unnamed diety of darkness whose struggle R'hllorian adherents claim is responsible for the odd seasonal back and forth between winter and summer.

I make this inference because Martin's public statements about the seasons have strongly inferred that their irregular nature is grounded in a magical/theological explanation rather than a cosmological one. The only theology I'm aware of within the novels to hold a similar view are the priests of R'hllor. Notably, they also seem to be the ones mixed up in the vast majority of the actual magic in the world, so this tends to lead credence to their assertions, for me (much as I despise Melisandre).

Stannis being lead up to the Wall implies to me that the Others are some aspect of the work of the unnamed oppositional diety. I'm not sold yet on whether this diety is inherently evil, though; I would *love* to see it turn out to be a nature-y god of the wilds and natural order (pitted against R'hllor as a god of civilization and social order), and to find out that the Old Gods are another avenue of worship to such a natural god.

It's probably too much to hope for, but I like that notion because it neatly ties up the bulk of the remainder of the legitimate magic we see in the Children of the Forest, the Green Sight, wights, and wargs. The only thing my theory doesn't encompass are the warlocks Danaerys kills in Qarth.

I'm assuming that that is, at least, in some part, what Caleria's referring to. I'll drop spoilers in spoiler tags, because read at your own risk. And, well, most of the terms I mention would mean nothing to an HBO viewer anyways (that doesn't mean you shouldn't stay out, you nosy buggers, you!)...

I've already decided that if Peter Dinklage doesn't get an Emmy, then whoever makes those decision are a bunch of idiots. His acting has been beyond superb.

I'm not, unless you are like Sheldon and consider saying it's going to be incredible is a spoiler.

Yeah, I said that many times about the books, but I kept going back.

Even knowing it was coming, it was tough to watch.
