3DS is dead with the pricing on the PS Vita. Wow.

So you can play games on the PS3, and then continue them on the PS Vita when you're out somewhere? If I understood correctly then that's pretty awesome.

I am just being an *** to be an ***.

I am not investing in a 3D TV system yet, so I am *** out there. I am still behind on games for the PS3 and 360 for now. (AC: Brotherhood, Castlevania, Force Unleashed 2, the list goes on)

Until I get a real gaming computer, my desire to play MMORPGs is about 0.

X-Com is unappealing to me. I really only have to look forward to Bioshock and ME3.

I'm waiting until the successors to the PS3 or Xbox360 even if they are 3 or 4 years out. The existing consoles are starting to look appealing though, I admit. I don't expect to buy another desktop computer ever again, for any purpose. All consoles, laptops, skinny laptops, pads, phones, etc. from here.

And Deus Ex, surely?

I did not find out about the original Deux Ex until it was barely playable on my existing computer. And I played it, but never enough to follow beyond that.

My lust for video games in waning and I do not know why.

Wii U seems pretty lame. It's like Nintendo wanted to ignore the 3DS and announce a real competitor to the PS Vita.

Can't say I'm all that impressed by the Wii U. I can see some potential, but...we'll see if it can perform as well as the other consoles with those cross platform games.

I misspoke. I did a 180 on buying this when I realized it wasn't just a controller, it's actually a console. This is the Wii HD we've been wanting, and you don't need to get the new controller if you don't want it.

Raltar,
If the specs leaked a couple of days ago are right, the new Wii is more powerful than both the 360 and PS3.

Wii HD with less gimmicky controls is what I've wanted, and it looks like its exactly what I'll be getting.

The Wii U looks so lame. Giant Fail. I'd rather have a Virtual Boy.

What exactly is the giant fail? Are you only commenting on the controller? Because the Wii U is b/c with all Wii controllers and accessories. Are you talking about the graphic abilities of the hardware? Don't know why that'd be a fail...

I wouldn't go that far, but it is rather unimpressive so far. We've seen that it can do some gimicky things and then we got a bunch of promises that it will be the most awesome thing ever. The demos they have aren't even actual games, just examples of what it can do. Maybe I'll get more excited when they show us actual games like Mario and Zelda and Metroid. Even the footage they showed of the third party games(Ghost Recon, Darksiders 2, ect) were Xbox and PS3 footage. By the time those games are released for the WiiU, they will be old news and no one will give a crap about them.

I get the feeling that they only announced those games right now because they're high-profile and people recognize them. It wouldn't make any sense to announce a new IP or something that no one will care about yet. By the time the console comes out in 2012, how much different do you think the launch lineup will be in a year? Games will be coming out alongside 360/PS3/PC when they're brand new, and the Wii is going to be a new solid competitor.

Right. But that's the reason I'm unimpressed. When we start seeing some first party games or even actual gameplay footage for the WiiU I might get excited(if they look good, of course). But until then...meh. It's like they were just trying to outdo the other two with words and nothing else because they really have nothing to show for it yet. They don't even have a release date other than a vague 2012(December 31st is still 2012!!!) that could easily be pushed back.

Right. Because all the "not even actual games" coded for the various iterations of 3DMark were so easy to run on crappy specs... Oh, wait.

A little bit, maybe, but you can't argue with the logic. The engines displayed in the 3DMarks were all way more intensive than contemporary game engines. So it's pretty clear you don't have to write a full game to put a system to the test and show off.

And before anybody tries to imply that benchmarks/demo engines can look BETTER *because* they're not actual games, I point you to Shattered Horizon, which shows that you can turn the damn pretty benchmark into a damn pretty, and smoothly playing, game just fine.

Trion (the dev house behind Rift) continues to do strange, potentially creative things. In addition to the interesting "MMORTS" they're working on (End of Nations), they've finally started talking in snippets about the MMOFPS they've got in the works.

Apparently, they're partnering with the Syfy Channel on a game/TV show called Defiance. The game will be a PC/360/PS3 MMOFPS, and the TV show will provide the backstory. Purportedly, things that happen in the game will inform the direction of the TV show, right down to things like players' characters (names?) getting used in the show.

Wild and crazy. I have no idea how it will work, or whether it will succeed at what it attempts. But I'm suddenly pretty darn interested in finding out.

That's not exactly what I'm getting at here. They are showing off demos that will never be playable by anyone not at Nintendo or at one of these events. I don't see the point in showing off stuff like that unless it's stuff we are going to be able to play when the console is released.
