Why does everyone here think wet weather in May is unusual? Memorial Day events get rained on regularly here.

Why does (0xfff80000 >> 19) + 1 equal 0 instead of 0x2000?

Oh, Pierre! You shouldn't have come. You're flirting with danger. They will surely find you out. Your head is much too valuable.

My eat once a day diet is working! I'm down almost 10 pounds. I don't look at nutrition at all, I just have one meal, and I don't exercise.

I'm not going for health. I want to keep fitting into my clothes and not look like a slob. I'm pretty lazy and I don't like getting up to get food, or cleaning dishes, so it works out well.

Thorough dish soaking immediately upon finishing with them is the key to a lazy man's dishwashing problems.

That or a dishwasher, at any rate.

Why must every sci-fi franchise out there either use Dreadnought instead of Battleship, or claim a Dreadnought is even bigger than a battleship? It's not as if it's not eminently clear that a "Dreadnought Battleship" is simply any battleship built in the all-big-gun configuration of HMS Dreadnought? Is a little historical awareness that much to ask?

What about Super Dreadnoughts?

I think its really because Dreadnought sounds a lot cooler than Battleship.

Right now I am on the corporate VPN, and I opened up an SSH session to a server at work. Through this SSH session I set up tunneling for VNC, and from my VNC view I then SSH to my home server (at my parent's) to connect to IRC and twitter, and to the other work server, where I actually do work... Pretty convoluted, I know.

My most convoluted connection:
At customer site, on my laptop connected to their DMZ lan, so I have access to the internet but not to their internal servers.
I ssh to my home server,
tunnel VNC through ssh to my home desktop,
open my VMware virtual machine with my company VPN software on it,
VPN into work from inside the VM,
VNC to my work PC through the VPN,
ssh back to the customer site from my work PC,
so I can access their server.

In Lois McMaster Bujold's 'Vorkisigan' series one of the ships in a mercenary fleet is referred to as a 'pocket dreadnought' because it is heavily overgunned for its deceptively small hull.
