I've already played it. Was pretty much exactly what I was expecting. Very pleased.

Ctrl Alt Del panned it.

Doesn't matter, I'll play it someday.

I'll play it when it's $5 on Steam. (I rarely play games in general, so don't take this negatively).

I liked this take on it better:

Kind of feel like this one is all about managing your expectations.

Yeah. I am playing this game for nostalgia and the teenager in me. Absolutely no other reason.

I wasn't even a giant fan of Duke back when he was popular. Hell, I think you can find an article written by a female gamer where I'm quoted that Duke wasn't my favorite (I was one of a few men on an email list for female gamers... they knew I was a guy. Female gamers were rare back then, and I wanted to be around 'em!). Fart, poop, and boob jokes never really floated my boat even when I was the target audience for Duke.

But, Duke is still quaint to me. It's like the friend you hang out with that you never really got along with, but he was there because one of your other friends seemed to keep inviting him to the party for some reason. And now you see him again after 14 years and while you and he may not be the best of buds, you can still at least reminisce about the good ol' days together.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I may have even padded up my response for that article just to try and win a couple extra brownie points with the female gamers. ;)

The reason little was ever said about Duke's inherent sexism is because Duke Nukem is a caricature. Internally, we tend to recognize a caricature when we see one even if we don't consciously acknowledge it.

The arstechnica review makes this sound Not Fun. Alien raped women pleading with you to save them, by promising to lose their pregnancy weight and remain attractive for you, then exploding due to the fetus inside. After having given you head. And pleading for their fathers.

Yeah.

Sounds fun.

They weren't outraged, the reviewer just didn't find it that funny.

So, on 360, load times are also crap, framerate isnt great. I'm not that far into it, but it's definitely duke. The level of interactivity, the references that have been run into the ground YEARS ago, the boobs. Yup, thats duke. Pretty fun!

(p.s. The quote when he first saw the three boobed queen in my game was much funnier than the trailer)

I was really disapointed to learn that you have regenerating health... I was hoping for a more retro experience. I'd like to play it, but not at full price. I kind of expected the reviews it's getting, but I was hoping for the best. :|

So I started doing some research, and yeah, apparently Buckley is a real piece of work. I would check CAD occasionally and catch up on the storylines, but i'm deleting the bookmark now. Don't really want to support this guy anymore.

Found corroboration on several sites, but this one seems to sum it up well: http://ohinternet.com/Tim_Buckley

Meh. None of that sounds all that bad really. (except for the underage penis thing. and "jackie" is probably some 30 year old dude anyway.)

I might care if I went to his website for anything but the comic. Until he starts banging little kids in those 4 panels, I'll probably continue reading, because I like Zeke and this is the internet. We have Penny Arcade over there talking about Raping Dick Wolves.

So if you don't want to play this game, but still hear what your reaction would be as you played through the first hour or so, this is pretty hilarious. (language NSFW)
