I'm sure there are many here who are willing to chip in for the fee to the server. I believe our concern are more of the asian overlord himself...

If this is personal we understand and wish him the best, however goodbye seems so final... If there was anything, any of us could do to help him with his situation, we would like to be given that chance.

You're appreciated and will be missed Mook, please don't be a stranger...

I told him that what we cared about was him but he said he didn't believe that anyone thought of him as anything more than "that guy who used to run The Glade."
I think maybe it's more than that but it's none of my business and he doesn't want to talk about it... Said he made up his mind and he was not coming back, period.
Anyone live in TX that can go check on him?

I know him as that guy that I jokingly refer to as Mook because whenever I looked at his name, I saw "Mook-how" instead of the likely intended "Moo-Khow"

I also know him as the numero uno resource for any and all things Anime related, though it is not a resource I would often call upon.

Lastly, I would say that I know him as the guy who wished happy birthdays to others with amusing Anime related pictures.

Mook, you are so much more than just "That guy who runs(ran :( ) the Glade. Hope whatever is vexing you passes. I am sure you will be missed should you choose not to return.

Be well.

^ This.

When I said:

Don't think for a second that my only concern here is what happens to the Glade. Quite the contrary; if our history has taught us anything, it's that the Glade will survive. It's you I'm worried about. If you've just lost your interest in being the glade admin, that's perfectly fine. No one expects you to do that for us. And I certainly don't mind running with it however long you need me to, including permanently.

Also, I hope you know that we do appreciate what you've done here. I've always admired your generosity and wished that I were more like that. Maybe I haven't been very good about expressing my appreciation in the past.

I also hope you realize that you're not just "that guy who runs the Glade". I know it's not what I think. I know it's not how Crimson, Ladykate, Nitefox, or a lot of other people I could name think of you. Even Dr. Doom is worried about you, dude.

I know you don't want to talk about it. You've told me as much before. You know what? Do it anyway. Drop me a line. If you want, I can tell you all sorts of embarrassing and pathetic things about myself first. Then even if you don't trust me, you can always blackmail me into silence :?

I think I'll go ahead and expressly state that my thoughts echo Stathol's on this subject, instead of (as I often do when I read one of his posts) silently nod and tell myself "The important points have been touched on eloquently, I've got nothing to add here."

I chatted with him this morning.

I told him that people were worried about him and asked if he was OK.

His answer, in his own words was "I'm the same as I've always been", and then went on to say "Just because I said goodbye instead of just leaving doesn't mean it's something with worrying about. The only reason I posted at all is because I needed to establish a chain of command"

He didn't seem interested in any extended conversation, so I just left it at that...

None of which sounds like a denial that there is actually something wrong. Assuming those are near-direct quotes, he specifically avoided saying something was wrong. Just that things are 'the same'

I'm genuinely concerned about depression or worse.

So there was no recent drama on the boards that I was blissfully unaware of?

Hopefully it's something innocuous like message board burn out.

Seems likely. Mook has always been a man of few words. I feel reassured after hearing what Midgen had to say.

My last interaction with Mook before he left was over my "drunken Bruins spam" about a week back. He posted that he was miffed that he had been "forced to work early in the morning" by my shenanigans. I reminded him that no one was forcing him to do anything, and that everything he did here was of his own choice.

Perhaps he realized I was right, and he then chose to separate himself from the things he prior felt he was forced to do.

Regardless, I wish him well.

I thought he was a cool guy, but to leave with little more than a single word I have to say it seems like he didn't care too much for us. Unfortunate. I wish I could say he offered more explanation in the mod forum but there's nothing there, either.

You did a lot for us, Mook, so thanks for that.

Mook if it makes you feel any better I didn't even know you ran the boards, so I never thought of you as just the guy that runs the board :P

Hope things are ok with you. Perhaps just not having to feel like you are responsible will make things better. I'm sure others would be will to help out and pick up slack so it's not all on you.

what in the crap happened? Did I miss something? Moo was a staple of this community, like SPAM (the food) in Hawaii. Even if you did not see him, you knew he was there.

I'm wondering that too. I bet it was something in Hellfire. That's why I don't go in there! :)

No offense, but why is he being a drama queen?

It would have taken a single sentence to end all this unnecessary suspense and worry.

Maybe he needs help but it is still childish.

Moo didn't really post much, and hadn't posted much in the week leading up to this. He made a simple statement, and told us he left Lenas and Stathol with the keys. Moo didn't tell us anything else, probably because it's not our business and he didn't want us to know. Why can't people just say something like, "Bye Moo, drive carefully," or something like that?
