Shameless ripped from elsewhere -

Parameters of the poll:
1. You are the only person in the world who is allowed to have this ability. No one else has your super power; you are one of a kind.

2. If you choose flight, you can fly up to speeds of 700 mph. You can either have wings that stand out separate from your body or choose to have no wings at all. (Think superman's flight ability.) You can fly at any altitude and withstand any atmospheric pressure.

3. If you choose invisibility you can turn your clothes invisible when you fade. (This prevents you from having to run around naked everywhere.) You do not have an external item that turns you invisible; you turn yourself invisible as a natural ability. You will always know how to change yourself invisible and visible again; it's embedded into your very psyche.

Why do you choose what you choose?

So I can either soar through the air like a bird, gliding through forests and mountains and buzzing the water over lakes and oceans, traveling anywhere in no time flat...

Or I can be a creeper and spy on people doing the naughty.

Um, I'll choose flight.

Flight. The only bonus of being invisible that I can think of is sneaking into a hot chick's room and watching her masturbate or something. I can do that online without the power of invisibility.

does invisiblity apply to electronics? Can I be sensed by other means? (presumably pressure plates?)

I can already turn invisible... I just start talking about my job.

Flight. If you can fly and can't score chicks, you might as well be invisible.

Also I'd be dynamite at celeb parties.

Interesting coincidence(?), the people choosing invisibility are invisible in this thread.

I would say:

You would remain undetectable to electronic sensors that rely on EM-Spectrum detection (which light is a part of.) So no radar, infrared (thermal), laser wires, x-ray, or similar detection methods would work. However, a pressure plate relies on mass, which you can't get around having mass (because you cannot fly!), therefore a pressure plate would function normally.

I believe you're thinking too small, here.

Well, not anywhere. For instance, at 700 MPH it's still going to take you 15 hours from New York City to Sydney Australia, assuming you do not stop to eat or take a bathroom break. You're still going to be visible to radar, setting off all sorts of alerts the moment you get detected, either in american or foreign airspace.

Flight is a very visible ability. I'm fairly sure the consequences of the world knowing you could fly under your own power would be very, very bad for you...and that's if you didn't get shot down by the local airforce.

Assuming you could circumvent these problems, you could make some damn good money as the world's most expensive, fastest courier.

Now, invisibility opens up entirely different possibilities, without any of the problems mentioned above.

Yes. Probably not able to see yourself, though.

Any radar powerful enough to pick up a human being flying at 700 mph would be powerful enough to kill them at that range. Also shooting down a human sized non metallic non radio emitting, non reflective, non huge heat signature...yeah not gonna happen. at 700 mph with no effects of atmospheric pressure a person could down jets by interrupting their airflow far easier than they could be shot down.

Yeah the government would try to get me. Good luck when I can fly at 700 mph.

Seriously hopping from place to place and they couldn't track me. Sat tracking maybe but I go into the woods and fly at 30 mph...sorry. I go into a subway...nope.

Besides with enough publicity and fame I'd be insulated from government. and if they came after me Id just start picking up everyone in government that supported it.

Grab them fly up to .02 atmospheres or just high enough to hit escape velocity at 700mph per the altitude and let them go.

If I had both, unstoppable.

Microwave radiation is not dangerous to human beings. There is one specific frequency of microwave radiation (that used in microwave ovens) that matches the resonance frequency of water, and therefore will cause water to heat up and allow us to cook things with moisture in them, however, microwave radiation in general will pass right through someone without harming them.

As radar frequently picks up birds (which are, admittedly, much, much slower), I don't think the size or non-metallic nature of a flying human is going to matter. However, a small object movign that fast is likely to begin attracting a LOT of attention once people start picking it up.

Elmo, you may be the first person who picked flight over invisibility in order to become harder to track.

I'm impressed.

I didn't pick it to become harder to track - I told you why I picked it.

That doesn't mean I won't become harder to track its just not the main reason.

Oh wow you can move at normal speed but are invisible, gas the area, or use a flamethrower, explosive, pressure sensor...or or or or or

I can move at 700 mph whenever I want in 3 dimensional space. I can start and stop sonic booms at will. I mean seriously...?

Flight, no question.

The fact that you can withstand a vacuum is another superpower altogether. Much more useable in my opinion.

There needs to be some more "perks" to the invisibilty choice to make it a viable alternative to the flight choice.

Flight.

There is the matter of temperature extremes, especially low temperatures.

I still pick flight.

I suppose if it's small, yes. No turning a car, but anything you can reasonably carry.

depends on the super. In GURPS it's an option. The league of extraordinary gentlemen and other gothic era invisible men their clothes don't even turn invisible.
