Don't you hate it when your nerdy self just isn't compatible with your date?

Heh.

She's kinda hot and all, but I don't think I could date a girl whose that passionate about originally voiced anime/manga. If that makes me less of a nerd, so be it.

There are nerds, and then there are elitists. Elitists are annoying, no matter what fan community you're talking about.

Levels of geeky/nerdiness...now you have to fit the same level? Or find someone not so judgmental about likes and dislikes ;)

Yeah, that. The lass in the video is showing those kind if tendencies in pretty much every area.

I played Halo at my friend's house way before it was a "bro" game. It's stupid of her to think that things suck once they go mainstream.

Right... Right...

Because a community of people rendered anti-social by **** who reject them over their passion for their geeky *** interests aren't pathetically ridiculous when they engage in similar ****.

You all win. And by win I mean don't get pussy.

I wouldn't say the *same* level. There's a range. I figure I'll be geekier in some areas than my girl, but less in others. So long as the gap isn't huge overall, there's plenty of room for give and take on what we're geeky about.

<xtal> it's not star trek's fault.

My taxonomy rules are:
1) Geek - passionate about their hobbies (best fit for her behavior, IMHO)
2) Nerd - academically passionate about their areas of interest (usually less invested emotionally and financially)
3) Dork - semantically passionate about their areas of interest (can be lightly to deeply invested; may be using their elitist/purist stance as cover)

I am nerdy in many ways, but I am mainly a comic book and computer geek.

Yeah, I hate douche-bags that put a great deal of importance on games/TV.

OTOH, I might pretend to like Chobits if I could get a chance to tap that judgmental anime watching ***.
