I tried fooling around with Diaspora but couldn't really get over the hump. Getting into the practice of logging in on yet another domain and posting stuff was just too much. It's already doubtful I'll bother to post much of anything on Facebook or Twitter for this reason.

My Google account? I'm logged into Gmail and use Talk pretty much all day. Social app integrated into something I'm already "trained" to incorporate into my daily grind? Yes please. (pm sent)

This. I already use google constantly, integrating facebook like features into that (while dropping facebook because it's awful) would be win-win. It's really going to be getting people to switch that's the uphill battle.

You don't have to join the service, Khross. Even if you did, you're still given control over what's private. This level of control even goes down to who's able to see individual fields of your profile.

I actually agree with you. I might have to switch my primary email if Google plus becomes mandatory.

I don't want to have to network with people, I just want my email and search. Google is becoming AOL-ified.

Jury is still on on whether email provider change is necessary, but it's a definite possibility at this point.

I feel like I'm being forced into some dystopia where everyone is "connected". I want my email all to myself. The idea that I'll be heavily pressured by the site to participate in this is making me feel nauseated.

Just leave... my email... alone.

Yeah, I'm going to be rather upset if this forces me into it eventually. I don't want to take part in stupid social networking bullshit that is completely shitty. ****, I hate social networking sites and people that try to push them on you. **** you, Google. Leave me alone!
