None of my spoilers contain anything that could possibly be construed as a spoiler.

Taking a week off to coincide with the next book's release. =) A day to read it, another to re-read the good parts and generally geek out, then some time to catch up on sleep and geek out with friends and discuss theories and stuff as they finish reading. =)

LK -- I'm pretty sure that you've read further than Khross has, by now. His spoiler at the end of the last page will explain why I'm certain of that. Also, I know he hasn't read the third book with 100% certainty.

Care to elaborate? I haven't watched or read anything yet.

I'm a little weary of fantasy authors that create 12 book series that I have to follow for a decade before completion or they die before they can finish or I'll die before they finish. Seriously, is their contracts forcing them to make a gajillion books? Start thinking of wrapping that **** up around book two at least.

Discworld has a lot of books, but you don't have to read one to understand another.

I'm almost finished with the second book. Sooooooooo awesome! :) I can already tell I'm going to be really bummed when I finish all the books and there is no more.
And I'm not reading ANY spoilers because I'll wind up clicking on all of them!

This why I read just a chapter day. I am only half way through Game of Thrones. I figure I'll be done around 2020 with all the books... well at least through the 5 written up to this point. I will extend the life of the joy I feel each and every day anticipating the next one to be read.

Slow = better.

Take a slow ride, take it easy.

I downloaded the sample of Game of Thrones on my iPhone and the first bit seemed to follow the TV series well enough, so I skipped reading it. (I hate hearing the same story twice...especially so close.) I know I'm missing some subtleties or whatever by not reading the first book, but at this point I don't care, haha, I'm just ready to find out what happens!!
And Odom Leah, I thought about doing what you're doing but the books are too good...I have no self-control. About the best I can do is drag it out a week but that's it.

One more week!

Gonna spend over an hour total driving to get this, since book stores no longer exist here... and it will be an eager drive the whole way.

Just downloaded a torrent of the first 600 pages that got leaked, which I think is about perfect...I should be able to stretch that to keep me busy until Tuesday when I can pick up my pre-order and finish the rest of it. =)

But there are a great many subtle little inside jokes that you catch if you do read them all...

I remember borrowing a book from Moose and asking him dude, what was this reference... and because he KNEW I would see that he already had the follow up book ready lol.

Not sure, but GRRM has said it's just a hair shorter than Storm of Swords which is like 1100 some pages in paperback.

VERY NOT HAPPY!!! I've been wanting to discuss it on here, but then I would have to put it in spoilers, which is fine, but then ya'lls responses would have to be in spoilers as well but some of you might put in info that I haven't gotten to yet and I'm already VERY NOT HAPPY about certain events in Storm of Swords so far....so yeah, I wanna talk about it but I'm afraid someone will spill the beans about something and I've already decided the safest course is to just not read ANYTHING in spoiler tags in this thread!!!
FWIW--I wanted to throw the dang book across the room. Injustice!!!!

Don't worry. Nobody talks about A Feast for Crows, anyways...

It's just considered a weak book on it's own. I think it's still a great read but it kinda suffers for following a Storm of Swords and having no Jon, Tyrion, or Daenarys.

I'm just over 300 pages into Dance with Dragons now though and it makes Feast feel more "complete" I think.

Spoiler:
Jon, Daenarys, and Tyrion arte only only victims of editing. Their parts in the book after A Storm of Swords got moved to A Dance with Dragons when the book got too long.
