Thanks for the invite, Lenas.

Yea, I'm digging the new 'minimalist' design interfaces lately. Very clean.

I just tried Google+ for a couple days, and I didn't like how people only talk about Google+. I deleted it since it takes up clicking space on my Google account. Hopefully when it goes mainstream there will be better content.

FYI, in case anyone is wondering why I disappeared, I deleted my google plus profile.

I've seen enough of it to know that I don't want anything to do with it (at least until they allow more separation between personal/professional/online(anonymous) contacts...

What do you mean? I haven't really delved into it much, but it appears that full segregation is occurring.

You can put the folks in different piles, to segregate the conversations, but the profile information is the same for everyone.

I am Midgen to you guys, but no one at work and none of RL friends or family knows me by that name...

I confess to not putting a lot of effort into customizing it, and I suppose I could create multiple accounts, but that is way too much trouble.

What it really comes down to is, I have no real use for it, nor interest in it. It's just not worth putting any effort into managing the thing (same reason I don't use facebook).

No it's not... you can modify every label of your profile to be private, public, or circle-based. That said, the user interface around doing such things could be a little better. A little globe icon next to a label doesn't exactly scream out "privacy" metaphor to me.

But I still have to either use "Midgen" or my real name.

Like I said, if I was really desperate to be in the social media scene, I could probably spend the time to make it work, or choose to deal with the system the way it is, but I really don't have any interest in it, and it's just not worth dealing with it.

Actually, you can use your real name (share that with friends, workers, etc), and use Midgen for your "Other name" section, and only share that with your gaming/glade circles.

I created a Google+ profile for my alternate email account. I don't want it clogging up my Google interface for my primary email.

I wouldn't be surprised if Google+ never really takes off.

While it is true that you can do that, you can't hide your real name from from your gaming/glade circles, if you wanted to do that.

If you had the foresight, you could pseudonym yourself to everybody, and then use alternate names to appropriate circles. Google frowns on this, though.

They don't count as new users because Google+ is another service to their already existing account.

That is a pointless distinction Lex. Its linked to a google account, but it is a separate service that you have to sign up for. That graph represents people that created a profile in google+ and you say they don't count because they already had a gmail account?

Yes it is adding a new service for a website you are already on.
