Cretaceous Calamity
Set aboard the 2009 USS Enterprise
Captain's log, stardate 12120.11. We're attempting to travel back in time by slingshotting around the sun at maximum warp.

The Enterprise flew toward the sun. Kirk hit the intercom. "How we doing, Scotty?" he said. "We're clear to commence O-I-B," said Scotty. "Roger that, commencing orbital insertion burn," said Kirk. The Enterprise fired her aft thrusters, flying into a counterclockwise orbit around the sun. "Maximum warp on my mark!" said Kirk. He counted down from 10. "Mark!" he said. There was a bright flash, and BOOM! The Enterprise disappeared.

ENGINEERING

Scotty whipped out his comlink. "Ye better get down here!" he said. Kirk came down. "What's going on?" he said. "The dilithium's deteriorating!" said Scotty. "Copy that," said Kirk. He grabbed his comlink and opened it. "Sulu, stop the ship!" he said. "Acknowledged," said Sulu. The Enterprise popped out of warp and stopped cold.

BRIDGE

Sulu looked at the viewscreen. He flicked open his comlink. "Captain, you better come back up here!" he said. "Be there in a wink," said Kirk. The doors poofed open, and Kirk entered the bridge. "What's up, Sulu?" he said. "Look!" said Sulu. Kirk saw a planet he was unfamiliar with. "Spock, any idea where we are?" he inquired. "Not exactly where," said Spock, "but when. If memory serves, we've entered your planet's Late Cretaceous Period."

Captain's log, date unknown. We've ended up in the Late Cretaceous Period. Our orbit is decaying. Estimating impact in 5 minutes.
The Enterprise slammed into the ground, still intact. Unfortunately, her exhaust fumes drifted into the nose of a massive Tyrannosaurus! The monster picked up the ship as if she were a toy, and carried her to his hiding place. Then he whipped her into the air and caught her in his mouth! He swallowed the ship, crew and all, but fortunately, her hull was made of an acid-resistant metal.

INSIDE THE BEAST
"Look on the bright side," said Kirk. "Our hull is inedible." "Yeah," said Sulu, "but what about US?!?!?" "Chill your jets, guys!" said Kirk. "I have a plan. We'll fire off every last torpedo we've got, and the thing will explode from the inside." "Great!" said Sulu. "I'll notify Chekov; he's in charge of that department."

CHEKOV'S QUARTERS

Chekov heard the "chirp-chirp-chirp" of his comlink. He opened it. "Oi-ey! What is it?" he said with his characteristic Russian accent. "We're inside a live dinosaur," said Kirk on the other end."Come up to the bridge and I'll explain our plan." "Acknowledged," said Chekov.

BACK ON THE BRIDGE

Chekov came onto the bridge. "I was taking a nap," he said restlessly. "What is it?" "Computer," said Kirk, "activate exterior lights." "LIGHTS ACTIVATED," said the computer. "We're inside a Tyrannosaurus," said Kirk, "and the only way out is to blast our way out! Man the weapon console!" "Aye-aye, keptin!" said Chekov. "Fire everything!" said Kirk. The Enterprise fired off all her torpedoes, and used every ounce of phaser energy she could, and the dinosaur exploded from within. The ship flew out of the grisly carnage and back into space. Kirk opened his comlink. "Scotty, do we have enough dilithium?" he said. "Barely," said Scotty. "We just have enough to make it back to the 23rd Century," "Excellent," said Kirk. "Sulu, head for the sun and put us into a clockwise orbit." "Aye-aye, Captain," said Sulu. The ship inserted into a clockwise orbit around the sun. BOOM! She warped off.

23RD CENTURY

The Enterprise popped out of warp over Earth. "All stations, at ease," said Kirk. "We've really gone where no one would ever DREAM to go. We should have died, but we survived."

Captain's log, supplemental. We've boldly gone where no one has gone before: inside a live dinosaur. We're flying to a starbase to replenish our supply of dilithium.
THE END

Right? If there's no sweaty action, can it really be called a fanfic?
