"After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a Season 6 of Eureka. But Eureka is not over yet. There is a new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year, marking its fifth season and six memorable years on Syfy. The 2012 episodes are some of the best we've seen, and will bring this great series to a satisfying end. We are very grateful to Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia, their team of incredible writers, and an amazing cast and crew who have consistently delivered a series we continue to be very proud of. We thank the fans for their support of this show and know they will enjoy its final season in 2012."

Nope. They need more pro wrestling. Clearly.

From Amy Berg, the executive producer:

Quote:
Everyone is asking why. It's simple, really. We are the network's golden child in every way, except profit margins. Fact is, #Eureka is an expensive show to make. And we could not maintain the quality of our show with the cuts it would take to make us profitable for Syfy's new parent company. Our creative execs at Syfy fought hard to keep us. Trust me, they LOVE us. We just couldn't make the numbers work.

It's the same reason SciFi could never have reasonably picked up Firefly, even if Fox had been selling.

Its alright. I'm not digging this season, and the last, while pretty good, wasn't their best.

I've said this before, but there is a wisdom to stopping on top. Don Bellisario realized it; Matt Groening never will. I'm not saying that's the driving force beyond Eureka's cancellation mind you. Nor does it mean syfy hasn't lost it's way.

I'm sad to see it go. I think there is still a lot of fun to be had.

It'll be interesting to see how they end it. The writers are pretty creative. I'm hoping for a fantastic ending...

The problem is they already finished filming this season, so as of right now there is no ending.

They still have season 5 to do, so there will be an ending.

But reading the writers twitter account, the reason it was cancelled is it wont make Comcast money now that they own SyFy, they spend to much on production...Maybe a bigger network will pick it up? *crosses fingers*

I love Eureka! But the season 4.5 is bugging me

Spoiler:
Are they even trying to back to there own timeline anymore?!?!? Henry and his 'wife' appear to be working on it, but since the return nothing has been said about going back to the right timeline....

Season 5 was filmed and wrapped before they canned the order for Season 6, Kashan. That's why people were worried about no ending.

However, Syfy has approved filming an additional episode to wrap things up.

Honestly, kinda surprised they didn't go the Farscape route and do a two-part miniseries or something.

All good things come to an end. I'm happier to have the show go out with me wanting more than to have it fade away after having lost me as a viewer like the last couple of seasons of X files.

Remember the first episode there Carter and his daughter watched themselves drive out of town as they drove into town for the first time? I'd love to see them wrap up with that scene...

Oh ok, I avoid media sources like the plague, rather get it straight from the writes mouth who guranteed an ending. We better not have to wait for 1 year then if its already done.....

Maybe they could get funding for a movie like Stargate did?

Ok, yea, it's a stretch, but one can hope :p

From the links off IMDB
"Syfy has ordered an additional episode of Eureka to serve as a series finale. It was previously announced that the network was close to renewing the show for a final sixth season, comprised of just six episodes, but the plans were later abandoned. However, one additional episode has now been added to the show's fifth season to wrap up storylines, according to Entertainment Weekly. The bonus instalment will take the total episode order for Eureka's final season to 14. ......." Well at least it's an attempt at a finale.

While I'm happy that they didn't Farscape them (and simply just kill the show with no ending at all), it's going to be awfully hard to wrap up the entire series in one 1-hour episode. Still better than nothing, I suppose.

Spoiler:
They better stop dicking Fargo around and bring Holly back. This is pissing me off since they are wrapping up.

I cheered a little when they killed her. I freaking hate that character. Fargo can do better ;)
